What is interesting:
-New tariff rate is simply Country’s Trade Deficit / Country’s Exports to the US
-Taiwan recognizes as country
-French territories not recognized as EU and lower tariff than EU, Same for Uk territories with BVI and Falklands
Anything else?
Russia & Belarus are exempt
Oh I missed that good catch
And the UAE
The data is wrong, it says tariffs to the USA, but over half, if not most of those countries do not apply tariffs on American goods.
This is just regurgitating Trumps press conference data that he likely pulled out of his diapers.
Do they show anywhere how they arrived at those numbers for tarrifs to the USA? It says it includes currency manipulation but I have no idea what that is or how it’s calculated.
EDIT: Just saw in another thread it’s literally just trade deficit divided by exports from that country…holy shit.
It is because how they calculate it
New tariff rate is simply Country’s Trade Deficit / Country’s Exports to the US
Can we somehow see the actual tarrifs on different goods? The aggregate number doesn’t help that much in understanding the impact and ripple effects.
Canada not on the list?
I think somebody on his team told him it would be good strategy to appear cozy with Carney in election season in order to make our Conservative candidate more appealing. Thankfully it is not working.
