    I this is a good sign that these tariffs are not going to be some temporary thing that will blow over and countries can go back to trading with the US as normal.

      Even if the US changed their policies, once new trade is established there’s going to be little incentive to rejig it again. And if US really does have a big recession then they won’t even have much to offer.

        Besides other western countries are finally losing the blind trust they had of the US. They still can’t do much about it, but they are increasingly recognizing that, as Kissinger’s famous dictum puts it: “It may be dangerous to be America’s enemy but to be America’s friend is fatal”
