I watched a documentary on Mussolini this week (“ordinary things” is an incredible YouTube channel) and it’s absolutely terrifying how much Trump has in common with the OG fascist.

If they were politically motivated Trump would be in jail. If anything the investigations were too careful, too scared of being perceived partial. It’s understandable being so high profile, but what an incredible blunder not putting the hammer down. Now we’ve the largest economy in the world run by actual fascists.

It does if they are a traitor/leader of an insurrection.

Also, putting trump in jail would have limited the amount of lies he could spew during the campaign. His lawyers would have to relay his comments, and they have a duty to tell the truth, or be disbarred.

Russia and China are stepping up their demoralization efforts.

After disrupting and perhaps permanently crippling the US by helping to get Trump elected, the next step is of course to now support the other side so we do the funny civil war happening. Especially China is very interested in this for obvious reasons. Social media is getting swamped again with AI slop and bots en masse if the recent Lemmy posts are any indicator. Throw away your mobile phone. Barring that, delete all social media you participate in for more than 10 minutes a day. It does not “connect” you with anyone, it destroys you!

I hear that all the time. Does your work DEMAND of you to doom scroll TikTok while on the shitter? Or just that you are reachable via phone and/or text? If it’s the latter a Nokia phone does the job and does it better too.

Reliance on AI obliterates your ability to solve problems. We have an extreme competency crisis right now mostly because especially young people find themselves utterly helpless without their pocket rectangle and easily overwhelmed. It also convinces you algorithmic search results and AI responses curated by companies are “reality”. Turning people trusting these technologies into sedated and borderline mindless consumer cattle.

People who play by the rules will always be taken advantage of by the people who refuse to play by the rules.

Left to my own devices? Following January 6th? I’d have used the RICO laws to arrest everyone from the asshat hitting cops with a fire extinguisher right on up to and including Trump, plus all the Congress Critters and Senators who tried to deny the election.

Indict ALL their dumb asses starting 1/7. Don’t wait 4 years. Run the RICO act.

… hey are the .world mods still banning people for celebrating the death of the United Healthcare CEO?

Last time I posted a picture of the Bear Jew (from Inglorious Basterds) and said a Louisville Slugger would make Marjorie Taylor Green finally see those Jewish Space Lasers in her eyes, along with a bunch of other people posting guillotine sharpening advice, that whole comment section got nuked… that was maybe a week or two ago.

Yes, you can invent an alternate reality where the largely corporate controlled and decorum and norms obsessed Democratic party actually prosecuted everyone up to and including Trump…

… and also pretend that entire process would not be capable of being derailed by a few very Trump friendly judges… and a heavily conservative Supreme Court… that did not (in your alternate timeline) invent an insane loophole interpretation of Presidential Immunity that effectively makes it legal for them to commit any crime while in office…

Or you could accept the reality that none of that worked, the MAGAs outplayed and thus subverted the entire legal system, is now openly defying the Supreme Court irt illegally renditioning legal immigrants to an overseas concentration/death camp, that ‘the law’ (as in armed agents of the state) are now totally lawless and not even trying to follow due process or habeas corpus…

… and that this new reality doesn’t play by the now broken rules that you seem to think will save us, and that … ironically, more traditional means of dealing with an oppressive violent fascist junta should… maybe at least be able to be discussed in an indirect, non specific manner.

Luckily, this time there are judges, lawyers and civil rights activists as well as the millions of people showing up for protests.

“how they’re being ignored and nothing happens.”

this is flatly incorrect, although it is what rump wants you to believe.

he’s signing a lot of executive orders, asking his cronies to find loopholes to attack vulnerable groups, but lawyers and judges are managing to stop a lot of those orders and unconstitutional actions.

there’s no use rolling over while the fight has just begun.

a lot is legally happening and things would be a lot worse if we didn’t have a lot of brave lawyers and judges on the side of the sane.

Even if legal and judicial activism isn’t as exciting or getting as much attention as the 5 million strong protests, those legal consequences and judicial developments are saving people’s lives and should be respected.

You think that wasn’t the case in Germany too? 50501 and crew are baby stuff compared to the shit 1930s Germans were doing, and they failed anyway. A bunch of one-day parades on weekends just aren’t gonna cut it.

I see you don’t know what you’re talking about.

"50501 and crew are baby stuff "

        nice try, Nazi lover.

but hundreds of legal movements actually stopping the administration and millions of people protesting is not baby stuff, even though it scares you.

        “and they failed anyway”

roll over and give up like you want to. the heroes will fight while you hide under your bed.

the protesters, the lawyers and judges and politicians fighting against all of this stuff you’re willing to hide your eyes from are the heroes.

that’s why my comment was about them and not about cowards.

Where are you getting “roll over and give up” from?

They said its not going to cut it, which is true, they said its baby stuff, which is true. Do you not understand the severity of what is happening?

You’re talking about hero’s fighting but you’re describing judges and lawyers, who have publicly been ignored, and occasional protests. 2 protests in february, 1 in march. The people involved are carrying it out Because they don’t think there’ll be consequences. So far there hasnt been.

What’s the maximum penalty in Texas and California where the planes took off? Every administration member, every ICE member, are they going to just get away with it while people say “well actually, that’s illegal 😏”? Do people just go to work and hope things will work themselves out?

“Where are you getting “roll over and give up” from?”

from the cowardly statement about how nobody should fight back because there’s nothing to be done.

            that’s simply not true.

dozens of executive orders have been halted by lawyers, judges and civil rights activists.

all of your anxieties you are pretending are real are false echoes of the other person who doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

you being afraid of fighting back and recommending giving up doesn’t make you brave, it’s pathetic.

it’s even worse when you attack the people that are fighting for your civil rights every day, despite your selfishness and cowardly propaganda.

They didn’t say that though and now you seem to think I did. Which is bizarre. The point is that a couple of protests a month isn’t enough given the severity of the situation and that while blocking a couple of executive orders is better than nothing it’s not sufficient.

They’re abducting people and sending them to labour camps, openly ignoring people’s rights and judges orders.

Pointing that out isn’t cowardice, ignoring it is complacency. Showing up a couple of times a month and pretending the rest will be sorted out by someone else is what you’d do if you were trying to trick people into inaction

School kids? I’m a grown European and wondering where the uprising is. Will the judges finally arrest them for not following court orders? If they don’t that surely has to be it? IF THEY DON’T LISTEN TO THE LAW, THAT HAS TO BE THE LINE, RIGHT?
