I got an account warning for saying I would curb stomp a crab that was trying to eat a baby sea turtle on /r/interestingasfuck and tried to appeal it as other users were posting pictures of crab legs and butter and my appeal got denied. Today I saw a thread about a casemaking moth larvae and people saying kill it and burn it with a lighter and hairspray but trying to report those comments got a message saying their comments didn’t break any rules.
Make it make sense.
Over a damn crab!
This decision was made without the assistance of automation.
Suuuure. Exactly the kind of thing a crab would say!
If we know anything about evolution it’s that everything will one day become crab. Reddit is just planning for the future by preemptively outlawing anti crab language.
I think it’s something called pre-emptive obedience. Those mods that stayed have made their choice. they’re willing to abide by the new rules; and since some of these rules are ridiculous and confusing, they prefer to err on the side of caution.
And now, for no reason at all, I will leave you with this disturbing image:
Reddit is just trying to preserve the safety of their platform for crabs that hold civilized discussion. And evidently, they don’t care about attracting moths.
