antisemitism has changed in definition to be about jews, that’s how everybody uses it.
It never changed, words have meaning. But if you attach to the European so called Jews who murder the actual Semites the Semitic label, you might be confused enough to follow along…
Exactly right. Antisemitism was a term coined by Europeans to justify bigotry against specifically Jews.
The Ashkenasi and “white” (for lack of a better word) people who call themselves Jews are literally Western and Eastern Europeans, lol. They just adopted the word that didn’t represent them knowingly, the troublemakers, and a repeated lie becomes accepted and whatnot (Trump did that recently with “reciprocal tariffs”, lol, America is cooked). This is just another example of European colonialism, the purest form perhaps since it has no need for narrative, propaganda and spin: Israel is a post-shame society, no need for lies and masks. And Netanyahu is not even his real last name! 😅
My dyslexia: Arizonaism!
Antisemitism is per definition prejudice against Jews, and not semitic people.
Hasbara or brainrot?
Just English.
The dictionary is descriptive, not prescriptive. It describes the most common usages of the term and language changes and evolves with time. Also, Palestinian people and Jewish people closely share genetic ancestry
To exclude certain Semites from the definition of “antisemitism” based on religion…
The definition of antisemitism is anti Semite.
As long as we come across people playing language games while excusing a genocide.
It’ could be reasoned it’s not accurate to call Israel’s actions “antisemitic” as that has been chosen as meaning only Jewish related hatred.
It can also be reasoned that it’s perfect valid to call Israel’s actions “anti Semitic” as this is a genocide against an Arabic speaking Semitic population.
Not all Zionists are Jews, not all Jews are Zionists. One is a political position (Zionism), the other is an ethnicity (Jewish).
That’s a bad definition if Semitic means people from a general region
That has literally always been the definition. This is like saying that an antibiotic is something that kills every living thing. Antisemitism and Semitic are just two different words, and have different meanings. This is how language works.
Language doesn’t always follow logical rules though, it’s defined by how we actually use it. Like everyone understands that the “homophobia” means prejudice against homosexual people, despite the “homo” part only meaning “same” when it is without the “-sexual” part. Nobody thinks it means fear of things that are the same
