Thank you. I will. I was showcasing boost through out the thread. Posting videos of me navigating through the UI. honestly it took me only 30 minutes to figure out how this works, why its great, and how to setup the app. Some people will fight tooth and nail against change and yet continue complaining about the problems over there.

To be fair. Majority of users were also excited/supportive. Many never heard of it so i hope it gains traction. Its definitely a huge improvement compared to a few years ago. Im really excited about the open source / federation potential. Get corporate out of our feeds.

To be honest, your username alone puts me off from wanting to read anything by you. I don’t know what your actual posting history is like.

Can you link these as you see fit, maybe instead of the infographic? They respond to some of the common ‘criticisms’

    Detailed overview: https://fedecan.ca/en/guide/lemmy/for-users/detailed-overview

    Alternative UIs: https://fedecan.ca/en/guide/lemmy/for-users/alternative-uis

    Mobile Apps: https://fedecan.ca/en/guide/lemmy/for-users/mobile-apps

    Communities: https://fedecan.ca/en/guide/lemmy/for-users/how-to-find-communities

Also I don’t think recommending one instance is the way to go, even if it gets people to join. Causing centralization harms us in the long run.

Here is how we approached it

I also deleted my advice on creating accounts on specific instances. Apologies i just got lemmy this week. You make a good point about protection the decentralized federation.

No worries! Thank you for including all that, and for taking the time to talk to people.

I find it silly how, in the same thread,

        • some users say that picking a server will be too complicated
        • while others recommend custom patching a third party app APK with the latest workarounds in order to keep using Reddit, and repeating that process every time an update breaks them

You’ve likely helped a lot of people, don’t worry about the silly ones :)

Oh there are so many more and worse comments lol. People cant be bothered to read these days or seek out information. If you dont feed them everything the need to know in 6 setences or less than its too confusing and unusable. Took me 30 minutes to figure out and get started… Still learning the nitty gritty info.

And now im researching how to host an instance through third-party hosting services. But these people cant be bothered to even try it… 😆

Not everyone adopts to change the same way. A slow migration to lemm.ee is what is needed.

If the focus is on making these communities strong, and Reddit continues to shut down dissent, the people will come.
