The thing is, unless they are willing to uproot their life and leave the country for somewhere more tolerant, there is no “getting away from it all”.

If Trump ends up winning in November, they can and will start forming posses to target anyone who doesn’t conform to the heteronormative ideal. In that context, being able to defend oneself — and being part of a group that is very much on the same page as you about defending theirselves — actually makes it far more comforting than you may realize.
I was going to link to Tenacious Unicorn Ranch in Colorado as a case study, but apparently they were all evicted over a year ago, despite having a positive rapport with and significant support from the surrounding community. That’s really disheartening to hear. Not sure if there’s any sort of similar communities elsewhere of a similar nature (either as successor organizations or simply philosophically similar ones), but a handful of cursory searches didn’t turn up anything.
