This post is for voting on /c/rage [https://aussie.zone/c/rage]’s Lemmyvision 2
song nomination. Over the past few weeks, our community has submitted
nominations, and we have until April 1 to pick a winner. Our Lemmyvision
representative, @Gorgritch_umie_killa
[https://aussie.zone/u/Gorgritch_umie_killa], has delegated our election to an
independent agency, the Aussie.zone Eureka Commission (AEC). Anyone who has
recently commented a few times on aussie.zone before today is allowed to vote.
(This includes, for example, some quokk.au [http://quokk.au] users and various
Australian Lemmy users on other instances) This election uses preferential
Instant-Runoff Voting[wiki]
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant-runoff_voting] just like our federal
elections. Put simply, this means that if your [1] choice has no chance of
election, your vote then runs over to your [2] choice, and so on, so there’s no
disadvantage in picking an unpopular song you love for your first votes, your
vote is not ‘wasted’ at all. Vote sincerely. A couple of the nominations weren’t
released during 2024, we’ve received confirmation from the organiser
[https://aussie.zone/comment/15547595] that they’re allowed! Here are the

If I vote for just one song will it be included in the tally? It’s hard to tell if the ballot is satire or if you’d really like everyone to number every song.
I know I can just vote 1 for whatever song and then randomly number the rest if you’d like us to.
if you’d really like everyone to number every song
If you’ve given them all a listen, it shouldn’t be hard to quickly number the rest without just picking randomly. Personally, (this is an opinion and not a rule) I think it’s insincere to pick a song as the favourite without listening to all the others.
Also, if we look at the two ballots already submitted, if they only had their #1 vote tallied then “International” and “From the river to the sea” are tied as the favourite, but the preferences make it clear that one of those would far better represent the community’s collective favourite song and prevent the need for a second tiebreaker election. There’s also no incentive for newer ballots to try and tiebreak by pretending a song is their favourite when it isn’t.
Your ballot will count until your preferences run out, but I’d really prefer if you ranked them all.
It’s hard to tell if the ballot is satire
It’s real, I’m just parodying the upcoming election because we’re using a similar voting method (Instant-runoff voting).
