(I’m a transfem tomboy btw)

    • It means AMAB. Best way to remember is that trans terminology describes identities we identify with, or direction of transition. So trans women are women, and transfem (transfeminine) means feminine or feminizing.

I think it’s easier to remember in the negative form: They don’t want to be called a woman, so why risk your teeth and call them a transwoman. (For AFAB)

direction of transition is the easiest way to think about it imo. hrt femboys, binary trans women, nonbinary/GNC trans women would then all fall under the umbrella of “transfem”

just for clarification, ive heard “transfem enby” in a book but it didn’t explain what it specifically meant, does that mean nonbinary person that was assigned male at birth?

yes. that also usually implies that said person is transitioning socially (name/pronouns/gender marker/presentation) and or medically (hormones).

one can certainly be a nonbinary amab and not do those things, but I wouldn’t consider them transfem, personally.

I remember a trans guy I knew who wanted to be a trap as in femboy so people think he’s a girl until he reveals he isn’t

That seems shitty (also FYI trap is a nasty word). I’m not doing that at all. I try and be very clear that I’m a girl. A masculine girl who likes sports, cars, and getting dirty but a girl no less.
