i’m looking for a cheap graphics card that doesnt produce much heat. amd prefered. i currently have a saphire rx470 that cooks the whole room. this pc is used for web browsing and video streaming. no gaming. recommendations appreciated!!

    Does your setup have an igpu? All igpus are fine for video/web browsing.

    I’d probably look at intel b570 if I had to buy a gpu and the driving factor was heat.

    You could also try under clocking/under volting your current gpu.

      yeah, no integrated graphics. hmmm. i guess i could swap out the cpu for a cpu with integrated graphics. i had not considered that option before.

    Maybe that card doesn’t have it, but some cards have the ability to step down their activity, like an idle parameter. Also, It shouldn’t be producing a lot of heat if it’s not doing work. I had a laptop years ago that used to constantly heat up and run the fans a lot. Once I got time to open it up to clean it, I discovered the heatsink had come loose from the CPU. Fixing that made it very quiet.

    Can you find a used r7 240 or some similar low end cards? They can’t produce that much heat. Also, your room has very bad ventilation if it heats up that much. Takes a few hours of gaming to get my tiny workroom from 22c to uncomfortable temperatures (like 26+) and I have a 3060ti and 55" oled heating it up.
