No, it is. It really is. Jurassic Park was also about making weird ass chimera species that looked like people thought dinosaurs looked like, and then marketing them as actual dinosaurs.
The setting of the book was a theme park with dinosaur exhibits making money off dumbasses who wanted to see “real dinosaurs”.
The plot of the book kicks off because the scientists weren’t actually using intact dinosaur DNA, but instead, taking a handful of reconstructed dinosaur genes and mixing it with DNA from other species until they got something dinosaur-like.
So yeah, this is just like Jurassic Park.
