I’ve been studying in Finland for about a year and haven’t had to deal with any medical issues but wanted to get more familiar with it
From my understanding if I have a non emergency I can contact my health center using omaolo and set up an appointment from there.
I’m from a non EU country so my health insurance will pay for most of the medical expenses as long as I pay the Kela health care fee.
Is all of this correct?
I was also wondering if it’s the same for dental issues
I also wanted to ask if there’s a way I can get an appointment for a general check up. I have a bunch of minor issues that I want to get checked but from what I’ve heard, that’s not really a thing here.
Your first stop might be the website of whatever service/city/school might be responsible. Actually even the ones that aren’t might have some info or links. I’d expect they at least provide links on the right direction.
The bureaucracy and correctness of instructions involved may vary a lot, but at least you should find some more specific questions and places to ask/confirm.
I don’t think it’s quite consistent across the country and system. But I’m old and out of the loop and would be happy to be wrong.
