I guess I’m “basic” too then. But people either forget or never heard that Miles was always pushing the music forward. The year they released this album, many jazz artists were still emulating Bix and Louis, Sydney and Benny. Fans in the 50s / 60s would have to stretch to appreciate this music and I know we have folks here doing the same now.
Yeah, there are certain artists that created new things or pushed their entire art form forward. That should always be appreciated! Heck, I think On The Corner is the album that caught my attention and moved me harder into jazz appreciation.
