Japan’s Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has said he will not make “big concessions” to Donald Trump in order to get a trade deal wrapped up ahead of talks due to start on April 17 in Washington, but also said on Monday that he would not be imposing retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports.
Ishiba told parliament that Japan needs to understand Trump’s views on tariffs and trade “in terms of the logic and the emotional elements” behind them, Reuters reported.
The only good thing about Trump is that if America survives it will be forced to fix its system of government if it ever wants to become as internationally important as it was just a few months ago again.
