Not only for ChatGPT but all AI sucks at this. I give them simple criterias by saying I want to socialize and they start spamming mainstream games that are related or not. I’m tired of trying to explain ChatGPT that God of War Ragnarok is not an online game. I’m tired of this. They even go around ultimately basic criterias by saying;
“It’s not an online game but…”
That’s the only criteria I gave you and you still somehow mess it up! No matter what I try to add to my prompts by telling them every criteria must be fitting, they still fail. I’m not even giving them very tight criterias, I’m just giving them basic ones but they go totally diffirent paths. Suddenly Skyrim and Call of Duty are very similiar games because both are first person. How does it even work? This is so annoying. I don’t want mainstream and my recommendations are filled with GTA Online, VrChat or Helldivers 2. Isn’ there an AI or way to get pass around this problem? I tried ChatGPT, Pi AI, DeepSeek and so called “Game recommender” AIs in character.ai
Honestly I think this is because the datasets it’s taking from have a tendency to do this too. Try asking people online for a game or device with specific features and some will skim the question, overlook your criteria or disregard its importance, and offer unrelated or only barely related things.
This is part of why it’s silly to build AI off of bulk internet data and expect much better. It takes devices capable of precision and reliability and makes them generate imprecise and unreliable output, a perfect pairing for frustration at best and disaster at worst.
Thank you for giving a normal answer without insulting or making fun of me, seems like that’s rare in here. The things you said are very logical and helpful. It makes a lot of sense.
No problem! A lot of people here are aggressively anti-AI anything, so they take any opportunity to bash it, often including people trying it out.
Personally I don’t like the corporate AI stuff either, but I recognize my distaste is better directed at the corporate jerks than regular folks like yourself giving it a go.
Ah yes. Using a regurgitation machine prone to hallucinations to identify something new.
I’m not trying to identify something new. I want help finding a related video game to my simple criterias.
“Guys, why is the glorified autocomplete algorithm (that is trained on data at least 5 years old) bad at doing stuff that requires recent data and is completely unrelated to autocompletion?!?”
Even specislized AI’s like in youtube music is terrible
If you talk about recommendation algorithm, it’s very different than what I talk about here. I directly give ChatGPT the criterias as a prompt and it goes around these even while exactly knowing what I do and don’t look for. Meanwhile YouTube recommendation is an algorithm. You can check out enshittification for that unless you talk about a specific AI in YouTube music. I’m not aware of an AI like that since I don’t use YouTube Music.
Youtube music have a new feature called ask for music that use AI
No, there are multiple AIs that have more recent algorithms. And you talk like games existed just for 5 years, are you serious? We have online games since late 90s. Beyond that, ChatGPT does have a “search” function.
