this video will set women back 100 years for moor shenanigans + RPM Communityhttps://patreon.com/RPMF1?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_camp...
is he just saying incorrectly that women can’t drive?
Nah, in some older video he was replying to some comment about throttle/brake pedal cameras where the commenter was basically asking for upskirt shots of female racers and he got relatively serious the problems women face. Too bad I cannot remember the title. I would link it then.
He’s saying that F1 Academy is bad and I agree. At most 5 competitors are actual race drivers. The entire competition is a show piece to make F1 look progressive, not to actually get women into F1. Sophia Flörsch refused to participate in W Series for this reason.
Mm. Yeah it’s not without it’s problems and I agree there is a big performative element BUT I do kind of feel it is doing its job a bit.
It’s already realistically too late for the current drivers to get on the f1 ladder (if that’s their goal). Abby Pulling is the same age or older than a quarter of the current f1 grid.
However, surely the job of W Series and F1 Academy (which is worse and watered down than W Series already was) is to provide more exposure and grow the numbers of girls taking up karting etc.
To succeed in top flight racing you need speed but that is not enough, you need support in the form of driving development, management and obviously significant financial backing. It will take years but I’d argue any step is a step forwards at this stage.
Look at what’s happening with women’s basketball and football now, it’s exploding. But you need much more money and time for racing compared to those sports.
Anyway I’m interested to see how pulling does in GB3 this year, planning to go a race!
Is there a subtext to this or is he just saying incorrectly that women can’t drive?
