This gets really political really quick.
Not saying that we all should be apolitic, but it’s like every little thing gets politicized for seemingly no reason.
Those who want to say their stuff belong exclusively to their kind can stay in their little corner, but Linux should totally be mainstream.
Hot take: Lemmy is an even bigger piece of garbage than Reddit.
“bigger piece of garbage” is a strong word. However I do think that Lemmy is too homogenous politically, making it an echo chamber, which is objectively a bad thing.
You can see how eager the vegans brigade you when you say anything bad about PETA.
The same goes to the militant atheists (an irony by itself) commenting all the news of Pope’s death with insults.
To these people, there’s no nuance. Capitalism is nothing but greed. All religions are a bunch of pedophile rings. Meat industry should be abolished. Everything is black and white, there’s no in-between.
Honestly, I’m sick of this myself. Everything has to align with their political view as if that political view defines their whole identity and they’d be nobody without it.
To the cowards who are about to downvote this, I dare you to actually comment. Come on, throw shit at me and get it out of your system.
I get the point your making. But I feel your aggravation, and it makes me aggravated. It feels like ya just want to argue. If you wanted to have a good faith discussion you wouldn’t portray the other side like that.
The one thing I’ll say is that political homogeny can be called an echo chamber or a community depending on your angle. If you never leave it’s an echo chamber, but if you have other sources then its just a community. I wouldn’t call that objectively a bad thing.
Linux speaks for itself, it doesn’t need the advocacy of a nazi.
Well its a good thing he’s not a Nazi then.
Nor do Lemmy users need to help monetize his Youtube videos.
Did I miss something? Since when is PewDiePie a nazi
He was inconsiderate when he made edgy jokes, tried to test if those two Fiver guys really would put up a sign saying “gas the Jews” and once said the N-word in a stream – controversy ensued for obvious reasons and he since apologized for his actions. I haven’t been really following him in the last few years but after those controversies he left any Nazi jokes out, I think he learned his lessons. He has since settled down with a family and it has been pleasant following his life, especially now that he has gotten into Linux.
But don’t tell anything like that to the average Internet leftist! Even if PewDiePie apologized and left edgy jokes out, changed and moved on, in their eyes he is eternally a Nazi or a Nazi-enabler who can never redeem himself! No matter how many years have passed, no matter how many apologies, any time PewDiePie gets mentioned in a post or is the main topic, this happens.
I did not know he had apologized. My son used to watch him, but has since moved on from that. So I have not really kept up with his shit since. But settling down with a family alone does not mean he is not still toxic.
But if he apologized and stopped with the stupid shit, maybe he did change, hopefully it is not just an act for the camera though.
He seems to be winding down and just posting for fun now. He isn’t as big as he used to be.
As much as I think his wealth is immoral, his content and motivations seem pretty wholesome lately.
He made a few edgy jokes in 2017. Makes somebody unredeemable in the eyes of internet leftists.
You can only make jokes about the jews so many times before it stops being ironic.
Interesting; I thought today’s Nazis are pro-Jew, haha.
Nazis are only pro-power. Everything else is just a means to an end.
They don’t actually care who they are advocating against. There is only one constant: They are the ones at the top, destined to rule, and the masses need to be controlled by pitting them against some “enemy”. That enemy is always replaceable because it needs to be replaced every time they accidently “solve” a problem or need a change of narrative.
No they are pro zionism
