Losing everywhere in courts, so now you think you can just sidestep them by changing the constitution? Lolz
minus-squareLinktank@lemmy.todaylinkfedilinkarrow-up0·2 days agoI don’t think they have the right to take that away.
minus-squareHulkSmashBurgers@reddthat.comlinkfedilinkarrow-up0·1 day agoThey don’t have the right (because it’s illegal) to do a lot of the stuff they’ve done and yet here we are.
minus-squareAsafum@feddit.nllinkfedilinkarrow-up0·edit-22 days agoThey have any and every “right” that no one denies them by actual force of action. The courts will wag their finger and the administration will say “You’re a Marxist, I don’t have to listen to you. Fuck you.” :(
minus-squareBlameThePeacock@lemmy.calinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up0·2 days ago“privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it.” That’s the wording in the constitution. They just say that undocumented migrants amount to an invasion and they can suspend it. It’s not like the supreme court is going to override them on that.
minus-squareTransplantedSconie@lemm.eelinkfedilinkarrow-up0·2 days agoI dunno. The appeals court straight up said it is in no way, shape, or form an invasion, and they have to have their day in court no if, and, or buts. I think it’s 7-2 against trump.

minus-squareZak@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up0·1 day agoI’m not sure they think they do legitimately. They probably don’t care about that; they think they can try it and might get away with it for a while.
