I just got comments removed and I’m blocked from the [email protected] community.

Is this okay? Why are we allowing Lemmy to turn into Reddit?

My comments were providing porn addiction support. They got removed and now I’m banned from commenting on any post.

Porn addiction isn’t an actual problem, your bizarre puritanical obsession with other people’s sexual behaviors is though

Outright denial of porn addiction is bizarre. Sounds like you need help. Let me know how I can support.

I’m sure at least one person out there is addicted to eating toenails, doesn’t make it a problem worth addressing at a societal level. Your fixation on pornography has nothing to do with the impact or seriousness of the issue, you’re just sexually repressed and coping poorly with the knowledge that most other people aren’t.

There’s a lot of overcensorship going on here. You gotta keep in mind the mods here are just average people and that means they’re not going to be above mob rule or hysteria.

I’m sorry you got censored. Hopefully we can make and support more communities that don’t abuse their power.

Lemmy isn’t just one entity providing a server. Why not move onto another server (instance)? Better yet roll your own and play by your own rules.

Your comments would have been fine in answer to someone seeking support for porn addiction/dependency, but it’s completely irrelevant in a tech community on a post about people circumventing silly restrictions.

You clearly came into the thread with a specific agenda which was irrelevant to the thread’s topic, and spammed the same comment in multiple replies. What did you expect? I don’t even entirely disagree with your opinions about pornography but do you seriously think you this was the best way to communicate your point?

The whole post was about porn restrictions. Totally relevant. The people that were responding to me sounded like they were crying for help. They couldn’t even allow themselves to believe that porn addiction was possible. Their little genitals were like, “save me!” I had to do something.

Why are we allowing Lemmy to turn into Reddit?

    Good question.

Somebody thought it would be good enough to copy everything (except spez), and then the outcome would be fundamentally different

Welcome to the internet, where one thing you do not speak against is Porn or it’s addictive characteristics.

Also, it seems like you kept trying after having your comment deleted. Mods don’t like people attempting to spam the same thing. If your message is removed, take the message and move on, unless you feel like getting blocked like this. Unlike Reddit, there is no oversight on mods here. You can push it up the chain, but you might run into the mod of the community being the mod of the instance as well.

No spam. They were separate posts to different porn addicts. Unfortunate that certain Lemmy communities have devolved into less popular Reddit subs.

It is considered spam if it’s a copy/paste of the same message that continues to get deleted. This kind of thing would have been deleted on a basic forum. They were posting how to get around porn blocks, not asking for addiction resources.

I appreciate the effort. I had an addiction and it took me several years to get out of it without all of the resources we have today. Just understand how the internet is working. Post where people ask, and if it’s deleted like this, don’t be too surprised.

Your heart may be in the right place but remember:

Don’t give what is holy to dogs or toss your pearls before pigs, or they will trample them under their feet, turn, and tear you to pieces.

There’s nothing more Reddit than making a thread on an unrelated community to throw a fit about mod decisions.

Na you were pushing a weird personal agenda and harassing people rather than dropping it.

Also, not everything you don’t like is “turning into Reddit”.

I was providing porn addiction support to porn addicts. Besides the point though. You used to be able to say pretty much whatever you wanted on Lemmy.

You were pushing porn addiction propaganda on people who said nothing about being addicted to anything in particular, let alone porn.

You used to be able to say pretty much whatever you wanted on Lemmy.

        • I sense an implicit “and not be banned for it” in your statement
        • it’s not true
        • I doubt it’s been true literally anywhere ever, particularly online
        • had it been true here, it wouldn’t have been a good thing

Propaganda? The people who were commenting needed help. I could tell they’re addicted to porn. I have a gift.

Saying this as nicely as I can, you’re well out of touch with consensus reality in a way that caused unwanted disruption in the technology community. The mods took action (specifically the action of banning you) to maintain a harassment-free environment.

And no, you don’t have any sort of sixth sense about porn addiction. Do you need help?

Based on the modlog it appears that you were banned for trolling. If you feel it was in error, contact the mod. Otherwise, find a different community.

That’s the point. We’re not Reddit. Lemmy used to be a place where you could say pretty much whatever you wanted to. Disappointing.

Try to call out porn addiction and get banned. Thats when you know it’s a problem.

        1. This is not “Lemmy”, this is Lemmy.world, which is as mainstream as is possible for Lemmy. Crying that all of Lemmy is like this smells like you never read past the headlines for the fediverse. You can say whatever you want on Lemmy, just don’t force someone else to either host you or listen to you.

        2. Various instances always had various levels of moderation and unacceptable content. If you don’t like the policy, switch instances.

Define addiction? Do I watch a lot of porn? 3-4 times a week? Don’t think that’s addiction. Still have a very healthy sex life with my wife.
