A while ago we decided on rule 2 where the community overwhelmingly voted to ban political posts. There are already 50+ other communities where people can discuss politics but the past few days !pics has had many low-effort politics posts which is overshadowing the entire point of a pics community. Where are the mods?
Political defined as:
Pictures containing a politician from any country
Which is a prettyanageable definition. It’s a cliche that everything is political, but it’s also somewhat true. Banning pictures from protests would be a weird move IMHO.
Then let’s create another one without any politics [email protected], or lemmy.cafe for instance), and let’s start posting pictures of protests, armed conflict, wars happening anywhere in the world in this one, everyday.

Not everybody on Lemmy/Piefed/Mbin is a US citizen. Europe had a few important political events recently, nobody posted about them there to respect that rule.
This (topic) reminds me of the mid-late century thrashing around about trying to definine “pornography.”
Is a picture of a Swastika flag, with no context or background - just a picture of a flag on a table - political?
The modlog seems active: https://lemmy.world/modlog/1391
The modlog seems very weird :
Why is someone banned from a community then unbanned then appointed as mod?! Maybe just a mistake but strange.
Probably sloppy fingers, those buttons are ready close to each other
oh wow those buttons are scarily close to each other, adding moderators should be done from community settings and definetly not right next to the button you use to ban people
but at least there’s a confirmation dialogue before appointing as mod
If you putt that important buttons that close you need bare minimum one confirmation pop-up, preferably two.
