Yesterday YL needed permission to go on an excursion. Yeah yeah sure. Then she says “oh dad. You’ll love this. We’re going to see &$#@%?”. I had no idea what she even said but he got really excited (he doesn’t get excited about much) and then there was a lot of nerd talk and I felt left out.
So this morning I went back to the permission slip and it said “Particle accelerator”. I googled and I still have no fucking clue as to what that is but I learnt that we have the only one in Australia here in Melbourne.
I guess that’s a fun fact for those who know what that is.
I went on an excursion to that as well when I was in HS, must have been 2009 or 08, it was very new at that time! It’s so cool! The Australian Synchrotron!
Basically, it’s a big tube with electromagnetic fields, and they use it to make atoms and particles go super fast - it helps with particle physics research!
The one down at Monash? Oooh jelly! It’s quite fascinating. Basically a big tunnel circle underground, with machines that can squirt atoms/molecules etc. at very high speeds at items in each target zone. Like a very big roundabout with high speed atom cannons instead of roads leading off it. This helps people find out what the items in the target zone are made of and their internal structure. Super useful for mining, engineering, medical stuff and a host of other stuff.
Often, although I’ve become somewhat desensitised to the wacky things they sometimes have, eg, the Mountain Dew flavoured Doritos. I think of it kind of like a food opportunity shop, there isn’t always opportunity.

Jealous! I would love to see that

There was certainly much excitement in the air!

Yeah, that’s the one.
It’s just around the corner from my place. Well 10 minutes round the corner.
This might be a great 50th birthday present for the man and if we do go, we’ll pop into yours for a cuppa. 😂
I can take you to savemore for cheap odd failed product lines. It’s my local attraction. You can bring the dog.
Do you ever look at stuff there and wonder what’s wrong with it and why is it there?
The dog’s too unruly for social trips.

😂😂😂
That’s why I love Asian markets! What is this? I don’t know but I’ll give it a go.
