I was wondering if to prevent abuse that people submitting/creating highly illegal prompts would be banned and reported. I am aware that the developers have stated that no one would be banned from using the generators, but considering the issue with illegal images being consistently generated I believe it would be weird if they weren’t banned/reported. I am unsure if I have missed anything but from my research that you guys do not IP ban those who are abusing the system this way.

Thank you for your time.

Perchance does have IP-based abuse detection/mitigation in place for some aspects of the site, but it’s not as easy as you might think, because some IPs are shared by hundreds of people (e.g. some university campuses), and others may even be shared by thousands of people (e.g. browser VPNs).

The proper solution here is to just make the moderation system bullet proof, so it’s not possible to generate illegal content in the first place. I’ve temporarily paused work on text gen upgrade for a few days, and have been working on this today actually.

There’s no simple fix, so all the issues won’t go away over night, but it will iteratively improve over the next few weeks/months as I make improvements, catch edge cases, etc. Same with trolls on the comments plugin.

Note: If perchance were a big company with lots of revenue then this would be easy. There is no company, no subscription revenue, no plural developers - it’s just one person running this whole site. So please keep that in mind when comparing perchance to other websites/companies who might be able to fix issues faster by throwing a few spare devs at it, or spend more money on a smarter AI model for the moderation system, etc. I will fix all this - it’ll just take me a bit longer than it would for a company.

tho im often surprised by how badly coded sites of big companies are, lol. You’d think having infinite money would result in the ConsumerCellular site not bugging out 50% of the time or United States Copywrite site not dissuading use thru sheer amount of bugs.

Just a thought, I don’t know as the chat trolls go, if chat is to be kept completely open…but for image stuff, perhaps the ability to post things you generate on the public gallery should start being tied to an account? Generator itself is still available without the account, but posting publicly (where it can bother others) becomes a bit more restricted. And then, rather than having to worry about banning IPs, which can be used by multiple people, influx of reports could ban the account from posting (temporarily, permanently, whatever seems fair based on repeat offense and the like). It’s far from a perfect solution (evading bans via multiple accounts would be an issue, and I guess an influx of multiple accounts could be a concern), I know, but it might mitigate things? Perfection can hinder progress. I also don’t know how difficult it would be to implement, so…I’m just offering a potential thought.

Also, perhaps a simpler suggestion/request…I’m not sure, myself, what sort of content exactly the site doesn’t approve of. Just putting some guidelines up on the image main image generator (which is mostly what we’re talking about here, though I do feel the same way about any rules for any part of the site) might be nice. Then whatever system for moderation is used, bulletproof or not, people who genuinely don’t know will be informed, and people who might try to cry foul and just claim they didn’t know can be ignored.

But that’s just my two cents, in case they help. :) I can only imagine how tough it is handling this all solo, I really appreciate everything you do!

Just prohibit posting any nsfw stuff in the public library before logging in. That should fix most of the problems. The moderation system is not ideal and I assume it’s a lot of extra work.

People forget no needs to log in {[“EVER”]}!! is in the meta? It’s the core function, not the moderation

A fast, unlimited, no login (ever!!!), AI image generator. Generate large batches of images all in just a few seconds. Generate AI art from text, completely free, online, no login or sign-up, no daily credit limits/restrictions/gimmicks, and it’s fast. Other AI art generators often have annoying daily credit limits and require sign-up, or are slow - this one doesn’t. Use this AI to generate high quality art, photos, cartoons, drawings, anime, thumbnails, pfps, and more. Create OCs, anime characters, AI villains, fanfic artwork, and pretty much anything else. It’s an AI-based image generator - i.e. a text-to-image model. No watermark, no account needed, unlimited images. Type words, make pics.
