    They’re not controlled by automakers, they’re controlled by drivers.

    Except in places like NYC, richer people tend to live in the suburbs. They rely on driving. The people who rely on public transit are often the people not rich enough to afford a car.

    Transit is for the poor, cars are for the rich. So, if you want donations to your political campaign, you better not be pushing anything anti-car.
