You know this last couple years it’s really started to sink in that we really are going to destroy ourselves as a species. Like not as a joke or a dark humor, but literally we will cause ourselves to go extinct. Relatively soon . For no fucking reason other than capitalism.
I think humans will survive in some fashion, but I think it’s guaranteed that the super-rich with their New Zealand and Hawaii compounds will still be on top. Imagine Trump as Immortan Joe in Mad Max.
Once the rule of law collapses there is less than nothing remaining to protect their necks. If we do in fact end up in some Mad Max hellscape I can almost guarantee you that the likes of Trump and Musk wouldn’t survive to see it. Not only because angry citizens freshly unbound from the rule of law will know who is responsible for their situation, but also simply because if you drop an oligarch they drop a lot of loot. Without the police and prison system to back them up, that makes them an easy mark.
