Kind of a weird choice. I mean, Netanyahu is right there and you went with this guy? Ok.

I don’t think that it would likely accomplish much politically.

Let’s say that you’re someone who is teetering on the edge on voting for a Trump-favoring candidate. Are you likely to be affected much by a video like that to not vote for him?

Votes? Are there actually people that still think votes matter at this point? Even if there was another election (or even the midterms) this shit is already a shit show. Elons gonna be doing some “super secure new voting system” by the time that happens. Votes are useless at this point.

I’ll ask you the same question in another format: Why aren’t we plastering the internet with pictures of the US president shoving his nose up the ass of every war criminal he ever met?

Because the people who care already know, and the people who don’t know don’t care, being somewhere between ‘apathetic about the US descent into fascism’ (they might be foreigners, or Americans who are alienated), and ‘actively supportive of this descent into fascism’.

There’s litteraly a recording of the biggest pedophile of the past 60 years saying Donald was his “closest friend” and nobody in the party of “familly values” cares. Their could be a signed picture of peDonald groping 5 years old kids and his voters would you ignore it or blame it Clinton. It’s called cognitive dissonance. More radical actions are needed against fascism.

The only problem is that the vast majority of those guns are owned precisly by the most brainwashed americans. I’m Canadian and for the first time of my life I’m considering getting a weapon.

I am sympathetic with the sentiment so I am hardly going to discourage anyone from doing this, but it is not clear who could still be convinced at this point.

Reddit is circulating town halls in gop infested areas where even repubs are speaking out. I’m not hopeful for them to do anything but more of the same but it doesn’t go unnoticed.

You’ve learned the wrong lesson after all this time. The problem isn’t that we’re not being heard it’s that we are not being loud enough. We win when we drown out conservative mind rot. Attempts to quiet us are contrived and even on a small platform like lemmy people are being heard.

I wouldn’t hold out hope that any of them would change their mind to be honest. Those people would never vote differently, they’ll just vote in the next MAGA idiot.

I’ve been lurking r/conservative a bit since the election, and every time Trump, Musk or their cronies do something bad, it’s either not posted (though maybe it’s being removed), or if it’s outrageous enough, it’s always the same story:
At first they’re like “I don’t know about this one guys…”, but they’re quick to correct course with “I know this looks bad, but Trump knows what he’s doing and we don’t have enough information to judge yet”.
And then after a day or so, when the marching orders come from Fox and the like, it’s “This is a genius 4D chess move, anybody who doesn’t see it is a low IQ libtard”.

Then there’s inevitably infighting - anybody who isn’t following the new narrative is a leftist who’s infiltrated the sub, old comments which were sceptical at first get deleted and new posts on the same topic get posted where all the comments are praising Trump. They cry about brigading, mods purge the users and post stickies on how they’re planning to handle it in the future (and beg for donations).

Then the next thing happens - wash and repeat.

A lot of comments start with users trying to convince others that they are a true conservative, afraid to say anything slightly critical of Trump or Musk. The purism is in full swing. They really can’t accept that anything Trump or his admin does, no matter how outrageous, could be bad.
It’s like the whole sub is going through cognitive dissonance.

It would be really interesting if it weren’t so sad.

Its not as easy to change the narrative as they think. They’ve been building one thing for many many years. Project 2025 is over. How well built is their next? Cause my guess, trump has a concept of a plan.

Putins plan on the other hand…

I get what you mean, and I would agree with you but the last month kind of disillusioned me.
The fact that they managed to spin things like the presidents right hand guy giving the nazi salute on his inauguration day, or Trump blatantly supporting a dictator of the historically biggest US adversary, or him alienating and threatening to attack or annex US allies, or the countless other actions, is just defeating. I mean where the hell is the red line? What would it take for them to say “yes, Trump made a mistake.”? They pushed the narrative so far out that they’re okay with him aligning with Putin over the EU. I mean he literally said that Putin has gone through a lot with him and praised him while trying to extort Zelensky and screaming at him with the whole world watching. Where does it end?

            It’s just extremely defeating.

Don’t try to change the minds of die hard Maga cultists. They’re a lost cause.

Focus on swing voters who enabled this change because the price of eggs went up during Biden’s presidency. Remind them how nothing is getting cheaper with tariffs wars, and tax cuts for the super rich combined with the eventual gutting of Medicaid are clear signs he doesn’t actually care about them, no matter what he says.

Immigration isn’t the biggest driver of crime - poverty is. And who is making the average citizen poorer now?
