Usually not at all. More recently, the polical influence on our economy is that impacting everything from hiring (we were gonna hire, but now we aren’t) to investing in the business (we think we need to store cash because a downturn is looming). Apparently it is difficult to improve an economy, but one can be wrecked in 45 days.

[off topic?] Joke from the times of troubles in Ireland.

American reporter is sent to Belfast in 1972. She decides to do a ‘man in the street’ interview to get things started.

She spots a happy looking fellow sauntering down the road. He’s happy to talk. She asks about the violence and he brushes it all off.

“Belfast is as safe as any other big city. Sure, there’s a bit of bother here and there, but all in all it’s a fine place.”

She asks him what he does for a living?

    “I’m a tailgunner on a bread truck.”

Very directly. My company just had layoffs as a direct result of Trump. The company has contracts with the government and Trump cancelled many of them. The Legal team is also trying to figure out if the company will be paid for some work that was already completed.

The tarrifs and threat of tariffs and general chaotic instability Trump is driving around tarrifs is already affecting our supply chain and pricing. We try to make long-term agreements with suppliers instead of doing spot buys, and they are working assumptions of even more tarrifs into their pricing as a buffer.

Self employed carpenter - depends on how you define “politics” but in general not much effect, people still want nice wooden stuff, but in more economical terms obv the worse the economy does the less spare money they have for them, and the more raw materials cost, and all of that is affected by politics

Software dev. Trump just fucked my odds of being able to easily move into a new role with comparable pay for the next several years, so I’d say it affects me a lot.
