I’ve tried that many different types of unicode formatting and still had posts removed. I looked at removed posts from reveddit and my jaw dropped at how much they are censoring. Most common for me was Lemmy and Canada related comments or links.
I’m not surprised. When I was forced of the site maybe a year and a half ago I knew exactly the direction they were going. Facebook, twitter, etc. etc. We are the product. They don’t want us to have ideas. If you knew exactly the evil thoughts that goes through the tech CEOs head you wouldn’t be so quick to judge those who have gone out in a murderous rage.
Edit: Since I’m waxing poetic; if you’re an anime fan rewatch full metal alchemist (I prefer brotherhood). There are so many analogies you can derive that are directly applicable today.
We are the fodder for the philosopher stone and the alchemists goal is to turn us and the homunculi into a tool that will summon what ever it is they want at their command.
Watching that now with my kids, it’s just as good today as it was when it came out.
Lemmy does feels like what Reddit was 10-12 years ago. Smaller communities but great threads and discussions.
We stole the old ways back.
I usually just hyperlink to lemmy with something else in the text to obscure it.
Like this. Come to the dark side already. We’ve got cookies and you need to sweeten the fuck up..
Seems to dodge the automod thus far.
It’s just a matter of time. Digg will rise again. Digg will fail. Lemmy shall rise.
But - as someone who was on reddit back in the oughts, you should appreciate the fuck out of this community while it lasts. Something will inevitably fuck it all up, and we’ll all have to move on again.
I’ll try better to post more constructive stuff. But I’m usually just a quips guy. We need all your help!
Yep, that’s the sad reality of it. I’ve lived in multiple forums since back when it was all message boards. It always falls apart in the end
That’s life. There’s always a beginning and an end. The end really sucks….
I made a post 2 days ago that even contained links to lemmy.ml and join-lemmy.org and it wasn’t removed … yet.
Maybe also depends on community (are mods removing it manually?) or other account-specific factors (more chance of removal if your account is already “suspicious”?)
