I still think we will hit 1 million before the war ends. God it’s so sad that this is how I slightly keep up with the war, slight number increases, dehumanizing even occupiers into digits. What an awful thing this pointless war

The Russian replacement number (i.e. number of people who become eligible each year for military service) is at 1.2 million a year. So they are losing a bit less than a third of replacement per year. They do have some staying power but let’s hope Putin is forced to withdraw soon.

It looks simple in numbers but each one is a person that died, that could have made the world a bit better rather than being thrown at a country that is just trying to defend itself. Not to mention the Ukrainian losses. What a tragedy to have to defend yourself for years and be in a constant state of uncertainty. Lose lives, friends family and loved ones…

What a sad waste this whole thing is.

It isn’t pointless. Russia is fighting for the imperial regalia, Ukraine is fighting for survival.

Agreed, for Ukraine it is not a pointless war, it is a war for survival and self, but in my opinion for the average russian it was a pointless war to stroke a colonialist dictators ego. Ukraine never posed a threat and if NATO expansion next to the Russian border was Putin’s motive that backfired with Finland joining NATO.

No this was a pointless war for Russia to have started.
