More seriously they have this idea that more than coreligionaries they are a people: you are born into Judaism. Although you can convert to Judaism but it has to come from you and you have to study a lot and it is actually really hard. The few people who do it mostly do it to get married to a practicing Jew.
Then there is the historical context: Islam and Christianity expanded around the world through conquest, invasions and colonialism. When you are a people with no nation and therefore no army you can’t invade other territories.
