Le Pen is reportedly accused of wrongfully diverting $5 million in funds earmarked for the European Parliament to staffers of her nationalist, xenophobic party, the National Rally, over a 12-year period.

I hate soft worded journalism. She isn’t reportedly accused of shit. She was found guilty.

Given the number of kids Elon has had. His death would be one of the greatest acts of wealth redistribution humanity has ever seen.

Probably some other CEO or whoever he designates as a successor (his relatives won’t have a say. I don’t think his bratty toddler son will get that much, either). The way how these corporations are run are like the Roman empire. Run by backstabbing jackasses and who is the backstabbiest of them all will probably get it.

She was also sentenced to 4 years in prison (2 suspended) and a 100k€ fine.

But she will (already has?) appeal this ruling. The ineligibity, however, was ruled to be immediate, even while the trail is awaiting appeal.

France has to crack down on fascism … you know why? … the people would literally burn the entire country down than allow fascism to raise its ugly head again in their country. They are the type of people that will rip up the asphalt and cobble stone, build walls and throw them at police to protest government.

The US think that they would do the same if it happened in their country but they’d rather wait until a full blown civil war is happening and government has directed drone strikes against their house … but by then, there won’t be much of a country left to save, or even have the remnants of a country worth saving.

Le Pen’s party got 30% of the votes last year. They won the popular vote. Just not enough constituencies to win the most seats. Fascism has raised its head already.

      And the French never forget.

In 2019 they vandalized 60% of all speed cameras in the country.

They are still pissed over speed cameras. And seemingly more upset over mobile automated speedtrap vans. 50k cameras vandalized and over 2.5k had to be scrapped due to damage costing the French government an estimated 177mil euros.

Simple things like this are why I love the French.

The Paris Fishwives march on Versailles is one of my favorite historical antecdotes. They basically walked up to the soldiers, disarmed them, then marched up to the king and court and told them what for!

It’s not the job of politicians (or at least it shouldn’t be) to prosecute criminals. However, if you count Merrick Garland as a “Democrat”, he should have moved on Trump immediately after he left power. Instead, he sat on it. That was the first delay, and Judge Canon was the last. Blaming the last delay is obvious, but not the real story.

Hey, don’t stop at Garland. Who was Garland’s boss, who could have told Garland to do his fucking job or be replaced by someone who will?

Never forget that failure to deal with Trump is ultimately on Joe Biden and no one else.

That’s fair. I’m not sure of Garland’s motive to delay, other than a lack of constitution. Cannon was quite overtly playing games with the hearing and calendar, so she took the heat.

Garland didn’t want to seem like his actions were political retribution, like they claimed it was anyway. He didn’t want the perception they already concluded anyway!

Nothing to do with Democrats. This has everything to do with American Politics; Republican, Democratic, Independent.

Like Trump is the operative wording. Problem is that if a criminal conviction prohibits one from running for political office, the fascist parties worldwide will absolutely use that requirement to automatically disqualify all their opponents by charging them with absolute bullshit crimes, that in many functional democracies are still crimes and most people don’t know those laws even exist. No one knows how to legally define “like Trump,” similarly to the fact that there is no clade of “fish.”
