  • Probably saying too much about me, but I feel for him for most of the first 8 pages. I’m in my 30s and I feel like everything has past me and I’ll never have been loved how I want to be in my life. Some of those experiences like encountering someone who tears you down without meaning to can also rot in your head for a decade. I’ve never wanted revenge though. I have wanted to do something if I saw some of them again, but what I wanted to do was ask why my demeanor bothered them. I just would like them to help me improve myself. I don’t deserve a response though. I’ve even had some positive moments with some women as friends, without expecting anything more. I know how a lot of the other thoughts can burn in your head. I’m fortunate. I have a few close friends who are real people, and I make a good salary. I like to think I’m a good person, and my friends tell me I’m an attractive enough man. I don’t really know what makes a man attractive myself. It doesn’t translate directly into a good relationship. I think I missed something that I never can get back. It may just be time. Maybe it’s the fact that I’ve had good friends that kept me grounded. I think this explains these kind of people’s feelings well. It’s easy to get into these traps of thinking it’s all about money and appearance. Don’t blame others for it, sometimes it happens, or sometimes it’s something undescribable. Or blame the way corporate America has set up dating apps. I swear I must have spent over 10,000 dollars to these greed holes over the past ten years.

  • I understand going straight to nazis is a maximalist position. But this analogy hurts me. I tend to be picky with analogies because they tend to shred nuance, but this one is the worst one I’ve heard in memory. Implying that politics effecting things is like saying “you too can be a billionaire” in rarity is just wrong. It’s not the one example, mussolini was literally next door. For a more recent example, remember how the uk voted to wreck their economy? For one close to home, remember how a guy barely won the electoral vote (10,000 in one state would have flipped it) and now women can’t get an abortion in Texas without being on death’s door (doctors, be careful how you define that if you don’t want a prison sentence)? Politics affects things. Whether it’s nationally or who gets into your schoolboard and starts banning Darwin.

  • I asked my brother this four years ago. He said he was. It was a bad question to ask him because there are many factors that can determine this besides who the president is. Still… he was unemployed from 2017 to 2021 and he felt in 2020 he was doing better than he was when he had a job and could support himself. I bet he’d answer no today despite being employed for most of the last 4 years. He was fired briefly for saying “something they interpreted as racist” but he got a new job real quick. He bought a house under biden. I think it was a mistake and he could wind up upside down real soon, but he went from unemployed to rushing into home ownership. People who are committed will believe the reality they want to.
