So much fast-fashion clothing is future microplastics. Polyester, acrylic, spandex, nylon. It’s sad that plastic clothes are cheaper than natural materials. Then again, natural materials probably need nitrogen fertilizer, made from fossil gas.

One of the longest running field studies of heat pumps in renovated properties shows that extensive renovations and insulation upgrades are not necessary to install a heat pump. Good fabric efficiency will keep running costs down, but this is also true for homes heated by gas and oil boilers.

This is an excellent point. The energy transition is more accurately an energy addition. Some renewables on top of a still-increasing pile of burning fossil fuels.

Same with EVs. More are being sold every year but more ICE cars are being sold, too.

Until the fossil fuel industry actually shrinks, things are hopeless.
