I would have loved to but it was so busy. At some point there was an actual line to get in the next room. And so much security. Unbelievably grotesque display of wealth, funded by taxpayers of course.
I like birds and plants

I visited the Royal Palace today since they have opened their greenhouse for the public for a few days. My love for plants transcends my hate for the monarchy so I had to have a look.
It is absolutely obscene the area their palace occupies. Like, you could walk a 5km round through their gardens and still not see half of it. Paired with a ginormous palace. And not a single piece of grass is cut in the wrong way.
The most ironic moment I had there was when I overheard some guy talking about refugees being privileged, while walking around the palace gardens of a literal nepo baby.
We should 100% make this a public ground in the middle of a 2 million people city.
My father in law actually bought a piece of land with a small house in the woods in Värmland, lots of Dutch people over there. His closest neighbours, some hundreds of meters away, are also Dutch lol.
I’m not chauvinistic about The Netherlands at all and I like living in Belgium but I just can’t stop making fun of it lmao white people infighting
It does. Also the Stans if we are going in that direction. Would love to ride my bike through Kyrgyzstan
Both Scotland and Sweden sound like nice options to go to at one point
My gf needs chemicals for her work so every once in a while a box of chemicals gets delivered to my address and I wonder how long it takes before the alarms go off about a communist getting chemicals delivered.
Left wing parties as soon as their member count goes from one to two:
A far right politician in Belgium had a liver failure because of being a gluttonous pig and eventually he got saved by a doctor with a migration backgroup. Can’t make this shit up.
Next week is back to action though with yet another general strike on tuesday
One of my favorite activities for when I’m bored is to go on football hooligan Instagram pages and call them Nazi shits. You’d think that people posing with a Sieg Heil and Totenkopf flags would be okay with that but for some reason they always get defensive and argue about how they are just ‘concerned right wingers’ and ‘hitler was socialist, you know’. Like, you are posing as a literal Nazi why are you so ashamed lol?
Anyway I took a week of vacation this week. I always forget to do that except for in the summer so I end up with lots of surplus weeks at the end of the year. But for this year I wanted to do something different so I decided to actually take my vacation days for a change. Bought two books, ‘The Vegetarian’ by Han Kang and ‘Strange Pictures’ by Uketsu. They were the two best selling options at the store so I just got them. I always have a hard time picking fiction works because I often get bored by fiction quickly so I figured ‘how bad can it be?’. Looking forward to read this week as well as visit a botanical garden and go to a concert.
It’s so charming and humble to declare people who do abortions as assassins you know
I know they’re evil but you’d at least think they are competent to some degree
Yeah for real. Antwerp bars and restaurants are usually in such small spaces they by default have one bathroom for everyone. Then it suddenly is no problem.
To be fair the food here is poisoned as well. Just not with sugar but with insane amount of PFAS.
It’s funny how gender neutral bath- and restrooms are such a problematic thing for some while I have been going to them at campings for forever. Everyone has the same toilet and shower building, everyone uses them together and it works just like it is.
Because don’t be fooled everyone with a job now needs a gigantic safety net when things go wrong for you. The average rent in my city is 1000 euro per month, or 12k a year. Don’t find a job within a year and live with a partner who makes some money? No welfare for you. Start burning your savings, motherfucker.
The dumbest thing is that people cheer this on from their comfy jobs. And when in a few years the poverty has risen, they will cry about it. ‘How could this happen?’, they’d say. ‘What do you mean that I cannot get benefits?’, they’d say if they lose their job.
I’ve worked at a lot of different places, mostly commercial companies. I have never been closer to actually workers’ mutiny than I have been at my current employer, the actual union. Our board of directors are absolute dictators and the working conditions are insane. They won’t listen. They act like we are lunatics for some reason. No sympathy whatsoever for us. And we have had enough.
The comraderie this creates is nice though. Gives me energy.
