That’s something my retired tradesman father would text me if his football team won the Superbowl, not something that is appropriate or presentable to the eyes of the American populace after killing a bunch of brown people in Yemen.

I fucking hate Joe Rogan and think he’s a total cunt, especially as of late, but at the beginning of the pandemic and prior, he did have some great guests like Michael Osterholm.

For the first 2 points: Don’t use “Western democracies”. This is a US problem. Canada has much stronger labour and home protections.

3rd point: Getting banned online is a “you” problem. Your government has nothing to do with why your shitty opinions get you banned or muted. The fact that you even have the ability to complain about your government online is a luxury many other governments don’t afford to their people.

4th point: Whining about cereal variety makes the entire argument hold less water. Who the fuck cares about brands of cereal. Buy your cereal or don’t, but shut the fuck up about it. This is an empty complaint about capitalism.

If something is against “national interest” and your president is trying to become an autocrat, that means they can essentially pick and choose what national interest is. This should be setting off alarm bells in EVERYONE’S head as an obvious grab for power.

I’m not american, so I don’t have direct skin in the game, but everyone on both sides of the political spectrum who don’t self identify as fascist should be against this.

If you don’t interpret this as something extremely dangerous, you need to have a sit down and really think about the implications.

Agree. The amount of people doom saying, massively blowing things out of proportion, or having victim complexes is out of control. If you got all your news from Lemmy, you’d think society as we know it is about to collapse… or at least American society.
