Nice one. I had to look it up to understand what you were getting at.

BOY!
GIRL!
He’s like a cartoon dog come to life!
And to think we laughed at it then.
You’re right, how did I miss that?
Bear. Seek. Seek. Lest.
I was wondering the same thing when I found it. The anime looking character isn’t familiar to me, and the knight looks like something from Dark Souls.
Yeah, a lot of newspaper-printed comics haven’t always gone for a big punchline, especially the much older ones like this. Sometimes it’s just charm or a more episodic “I wonder what [familiar character] is getting up to today!”
I’d say even a more modern one like Calvin and Hobbes would fall into a similar category.
Those snouts change so much too.
It’s watching a romantic movie and tends to gets teary.
(Romancing the Stone, 1984)
Haha, can’t you see that he’s just a calm, compassionate man who would never hurt a fly!
I believe it comes from an old joke trend from years ago on reddit when people were naming their subs ____ people _____. “White People Twitter”, “Old People Facebook”, “Young People YouTube”
This was one of the few that stuck around, but it ultimately evolved to just a place for Twitter posts (beyond the joke title, people didn’t truly want it to seem race exclusive, because that would be weird)
Well now you’ve spoiled my new star wars movie.
Outside of tag (I guess), it’s like chatting someone up.
I’m not an expert, but from what I can find, there was a sort of “mysticism” associated with the ancient Britons and their swamps. They might have used them to stay cool in hot weather, as a ritual location, and as barriers to invaders who weren’t acclimated to traveling in them.
A lot of these claims seem to come back to these writings from Cassius Dio, and we know the Romans frequently described “lesser” societies in a very unflattering way, so it may be exaggerated.
Bonus meme:
I just read the article and will definitely be watching the video when I can. What a wild story.
Excuse me, what kind of technology…?
Just trying to do my part!
There’s this video of a girl in Tennessee being interviewed that went viral. She’s having her 15min right now: meeting celebrities, selling hats/shirts, etc.
There have been tons of memes.
