This is why I love TNG so much. Even though TOS is the original that laid the groundwork for everything, TNG took that “boundless optimism” and ran with it. Watching TNG inspires me to continue to self-improve and encourage it in others.

Don’t get me wrong, I know people had strong opinions before 2001, but it didn’t seem like political party was as significant a part of the average person’s identity like it is now.

People keep their defenses up more when they have to do “facework”. If you’re not having to make eye contact, it’s easier to speak freely.
