Yep. The popularity of iPhones in US doesn’t represent the rest of the world. iPhone users are the minority in Finland. No one is complaining about green chat bubbles because iPhone users have to use WhatsApp aswell.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the (mostly) political right that seems all these new pronouns as stupid would also ironically be against giving up on their own gender specific pronoun for a gender neutral one.

We don’t need more pronouns. We need less of them.

In my native language there is no even he/she pronouns. The word is “hän” and it’s gender neutral. You can be male, female, FTM, MTF, non-binary or what ever and you’re still called “hän”. You can identify as anything you like and “hän” already includes you.

Did you check the community in question? I’m quite suprised to hear one could think that’s csam. To me it looks just like your typical low-effort onlyfans content. None of the models even looked “barely legal” but more like well over 20 in most cases.

Yeah I agree. Simulation or not - I wouldn’t expect anything to be different. Life is just as precious even if this is not the base reality because for us it effectively is.

We may not be the only intelligent life in the entire universe but the only ones in our corner of it and that’s why there is no signs of alien civilizations anywhere to be seen. I’ve also heard people much smarter than me give mathematical explanations as to why the evolution of intelligent life is way more unpropable than most people think.

Why I believe in simulation theory is just statistics; eventually we will develop technology that is able to run such simulations and we’re going to create thousands of them. From that point on when new consciouss being is born it’s unlikely it appears in our world instead of the thousands of simulations we’re running. I just think this applies to us aswell. For us to be living in the base reality we’d either have to be extremely lucky or be the first ones to create such simulations.

In my circles I’m the one with the strage takes. For example I don’t believe in free will. I believe we’re probably living in a simulation and if we ever create AGI it’s most likely going to end us. Also we’re probably the only intelligent life in the universe.

For this reason I tend to lean towards defederating because I genuine don’t think your average Facebook user brings much value here - quite the opposite.

I just feel like people don’t quite understand what defederating actually does and I don’t claim to undestand either. However the little that I think I do undestand leads me to believe defederating isn’t going to “cut them out” the way we’re hoping. They can still see all the content here.

Open source just means that they’re not doing stuff behind your back that you’re not unaware of like collecting your data. I don’t think that means that the mods of a specific instance can’t arbitrarily ban users or delete comments and fuck with communities within their instance.
