  • The article ignores the elephant(s) in the room… Negligible performance improvements year over year, and unavailability of cards at MSRP.

This means the opposite of what the article headline is suggesting. Mainstream PC gaming (on mid tier and/or new hardware) is more out of reach for people than it has been for decades…

Good thing the used market exists and new entry level last gen cards can sometimes be found at msrp. Still alot of people dont want to settle for a sub par experience at PC costs, and console gaming always meets the mark for price to performance.

  • Theyre already doing it with all PS3 games, and you can only stream them.

This absolutely is not preservation of classic games, this is walling off and financially exploiting them as much as possible. Nintendo is doing the exact same thing.

Imagine if these companies started forcing a subscription/forcing streaming of all new games? They wont right now because people would be outraged at not possessing their games(or at least their data).

Alas, we are all boiling frogs and 2013 Xbox is getting what they predicted… An all digital future where the consumer possesses nothing and pays more for it. This is exactly where Sony is headed… Dont let the insulting trickle feed of 2 classic titles per month convince anyone otherwise.

  • Well in my free time this evening, reinstalling windows on a new boot drive in a friends 8yo PC, i think thats the issue with it.

Security wise i might upgrade my plex server(running on a windows 10 hp laptop) to windows 11 hopefully to make it more secure. Ever since i opened port 32400 for plex streaming i have gotten daily notifications saying they blocked another known malicious IP…

Ive read mixed reviews on how much reliance i should put on plex to keep my network secure with that open port. Also, my windows admin account on that pc doesnt have a password to login…

If i am being wreckless and you have security recommendations with justification/reasoning… Please feel free to comment.
