I will be goign by the name song here … I will not answer questions that will leak my personal information … I will not answer questions about work … I will not answer questions that can link to my real identitiy !!
This post technically doesn’t go against out rules, aside from not having a question mark, so I will leave it up, but please note that there is no way to verify this person is actually who they say they are, and you should be wary of misinformation online.

So it does go against the rules and we know it’s likely a lie. There is no reason to keep it.
I prefer to exercise positive intent, but you do you negative Nellie.
Sure you can be skeptical in your mind but perhaps engage with the person and try to find more information and then make a judgement.
I’m curious as to what you find so unbelievable. The fact that someone from NK is on the internet or that they found Lemmy. I know for a fact if I was from NK I wouldn’t be able to resist the curiosity of using the internet, consequences be damned.
The thing is - North Korea isn’t known to have accessible internet. There is an intranet, for people very privileged - but that would be monitored and you wouldn’t be on Lemmy.
This is just extremely unlikely, and based on other comments, the Korean looks Google translated.
Hello. I am an ordinary person from North Korea. You don’t need to believe or trust me. I have no gain from your trust or friendship. I just want to share an honest story about everyday life in North Korea.
Many of you may not have the opportunity to meet a North Korean person directly. That is understandable, as most of us have limited access to the internet. My English skills are not very good, so I will speak in Korean and translate it into English.
I am not part of the privileged class. I am an ordinary person like you, with a job that allows me to work and use the internet. Thanks to this internet connection, I can access websites like Lemmy and Reddit. Of course, I also use things like TOR.
It’s okay if you don’t believe me. However, I will do my best to answer any questions you have about my country.
I think this will be the last post I make with this account. I have other accounts on Lemmy, but I won’t disclose them to maintain my anonymity.
Mod notice: Note that this post is not verified by anyone (I hereby invite OP to provide proof confidentially via PM on the promise any material provided will stay private).
To anyone reporting this post: Lying on the internet is not against the rules. This thread isn’t harming anyone either way.
Exercise your critical thinking muscles and stay classy.
What is your favorite food?
Are people who live in the countryside doing ok?
Are the laws very restrictive, do you have to always be careful what you say, or can you trust your neighbors, have people to discuss politics with?
I like chocolate !!
I dont like many things people here talk about NK … lies … and something is true about people in the countryside . A lot of them are very poor and live in poor health . It is normal to see people working using hands and hoes . A lot really old .
Yes it is good to being careful … I like my country … A lot of people have oppinnions that are diferent !! They cant say to everyone .
What is the strongest chicken you can get in North Korea? What country does it come from?
This person is a faker using translate. Even allowing for differences between southern and northern dialects, they do not speak Korean like a Korean. Their English grammatical and spelling errors are also not even remotely close to those typically made by Koreans who are only partly familiar with English. They have also referred to their country as “북한”: “North Korea”. Pretty sure that’s a hangable offense up there in the land of Joseon.
Entertainment maybe, but don’t expect any truth in here. Kinda like Fox News I suppose.
OP: Next time, don’t use commas in your Hangeul. They are a western invention. South Koreans use them very rarely, now. I can’t imagine North Koreans use them at all.
What’s the weather like?
Now warmer than it was some time ago !!
it do be like that.
Do you have a desire to travel or live outside of North Korea? If you did, is that something you believe you would ever be able to pursue? If not, how does it feel to know your government officials are restricting you in that way?
I have been for other countries … I enjoyed !! but I love NK . I want to stay .
NK is at war … It is not allowed to leave when you want . Its safety .
Thanks for your response!
말똥
how do you plan on escaping? how’s the wired radio?
How are you accessing the internet? My understanding was that there was only an extremely restricted intranet.
Do you use Red Star OS?
What would most improve the quality of life of North Korean people?
That the world donest hate us !! We are good people .
Most people understand that the people are not the same as the government.
If nkoreans stop killing Ukrainians, the world will hate you less.
I don’t think anyone in their right mind hates North Korean citizens. I just wish there weren’t anyone who would threaten or harm you just for talking to us.
But yeah man, the world doesn’t hate you.
The world feels sad because the world is convinced you’re experiencing hardship, and the world would like if you had more food, and more comfort, and less pain.
Just in case this post is real: the world does NOT hate you. Not you, not your people, not your country.
We wish you could achieve the freedom to experience the entire world.
Do you think the YouTube video of NKs eating BBQ genuine?
That whole thing about y’all not eating beef because they’re beasts of burden you can use for farming and are valuable.
I did not see the video !! I do not think this is the truth … Many people are poor and have little for eating is true but I dont see the video … My family in the countryside is poor . My grandmother still works and has sick back … She eats meat but is poor .
I’d really appreciate it if you could provide as much info as you can about how you’re accessing Lemmy.
Is it through a device you’re allowed to use or one you’re using illegally?
Is it a desktop, laptop, smartphone or tablet?
What operating system does it use? Windows, Linux, Android, iOS?
What method does it connect to the internet through? Dial up, wired broadband, wifi or through a mobile network?
don’t these questions pose risks to OP, why are you asking these questions?
Fair point. I’m a techie, that’s where most of my interest lies.
I mean, same - I wonder all the same things too, but I didn’t ask them because I assumed they would pose a risk 🤷♀️
Hi Song, I was wondering what sort of art people enjoy in North Korea? Any poetry, folk tales or painting?
Hope you have a nice day
How do people in NK normally use the internet?
How do people learn English? Your English is much better than I expected for a NK citizen.
Can you give a run down of what a normal day in your life is like?
