Judge also warned he could name independent prosecutor if White House stonewalled contempt proceedings

A federal judge ruled on Wednesday that there was probable cause to hold Trump officials in criminal contempt for violating his temporary injunction that barred the use of the Alien Enemies Act wartime power to deport alleged Venezuelan gang members.

In a scathing 46-page opinion, James Boasberg, the chief US district judge for Washington, wrote that senior Trump officials could either return the people who were supposed to have been protected by his injunction, or face contempt proceedings.

The judge also warned that if the administration tried to stonewall his contempt proceedings or instructed the justice department to decline to file contempt charges against the most responsible officials, he would appoint an independent prosecutor himself.

As a Canadian I would have loved it if you all would have woken the fuck up to the war years ago when it actually started. Now you gotta start running before you even know how to walk.

What is it with all the brand new accounts?

Did you really just join lemmy 2 days ago?

It just doesn’t feel like it’s growing this much, more like the same hyper argumentative people keep having to make new accounts for some reason…

I’ve been on Lemmy for 2 years. This account is simply for .world and it’s bullshit inhabitants. Made for challenging American exceptionalism, American, individualism and American dictatorships. Without doxing myself to you crazy fucks. Like many Lemmy users I have multiple sign ins. This one is just for you and your bullshit. If the Chinese and Russians can do it openly so can We.

I can imagine that thought process has become apparent to more than just myself.

KMA> kiss my ass MURI> 'murica

            Enjoy.

Nope. It isn’t. Just separated completely. Pushing the buttons of American citizens to get them angry enough to defend themselves is the current trajectory for ensuring the planned invasion of Canada fails to take place or at a minimum weakens the dictator to a point where he is easier dealt with.

It’s not just 'murica you’ve drawn into this mess and some of us don’t plan to sit back and let our country be over run by some celebrity asshole dictator and his oligarch buddies. I’m not in your country but this is what I can do for mine at the moment.

Uh, we’ve all known for years. We’ve been plenty awake and suffering for it the whole time. Unfortunately people (Democrats) who tend to act in good faith don’t know how to deal with people who don’t. While we were fighting for votes, they were fighting to make sure those votes didn’t count while we stood by and let them.

MILLIONS of voters were purged from the voter rolls and bomb threats were called into polling places in critical precincts on election day. The impact was more than enough to swing the election. Here’s the numbers. The elected democrats didn’t do enough to stop it and now we’re stuck fighting an uphill battle that we all must fight. It’s going to get ugly – for us and the rest of the world.

You blame Democrats and specific events. I blame the american populace, culture and political system. This began a lot more than just four years ago. Keeping the blinders on allowed them to take your country from you without you even realizing it was happening until it was too late.
