How many good cops does it take to change a lightbulb?

I don’t know, but let me know as soon as a good cop changes anything. 🤷🏻‍♂️

My ex husband got the cops to kick me out of my house. We’d lived in the same home for more than 7 years, my name was on many of the bills - hell, his family told me my name was on the house.

He wanted to move in a new partner, he did some things, and then called the police. I don’t know what he told them - it’s been two years and both the police and the sheriffs department have denied responding; I can’t get a report. They showed up, told me I could either be institutionalized or go to jail. I managed to have some family come and get me, but I don’t understand how it happened. I don’t understand how the police could refuse to provide a report, I don’t understand how you can kick someone out, refuse to file for divorce and drain their bank account. I don’t understand how if you wait to file until after you cut off the insurance, you don’t have to pay it anymore.

I don’t understand why my couples counselor watched him say “I don’t want someone who prioritizes their career over our relationship” to guilt me into quitting my job, so they I would be completely helpless when he wanted to move his prostitute in.

I once saw a woman driving with a thin blue line flag and my only thought was “I wonder what kind of concealer she uses to hide her bruises”

“Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.”

      Another good one:

If your boss demands loyalty, give him integrity. If he demands integrity, give him loyalty.

Dude, not really OK dropping slurs when you’re not really read up on this.

The data itself is highly questionable.

        https://www.yahoo.com/news/fact-check-posts-claiming-40-110000305.html

In sum, an extensive search found that the two studies originating in the early 1990s were the only ones that shared a “40%” statistic purporting to reveal how many police officers admitted to being violent toward their partners. The Neidig study’s results muddied the issue by including abuse perpetrated by the officers’ spouses. The Johnson study applied an overly vague definition of violence.

Cops are bad, but bad data is also bad.

He wanted sources and I gave them. Done deal.

As for the slur, was it my best judgement? No. But I was speaking from the heart

I hope there comes a time where your passion does not need slurs to be expressed in a way you feel best represents your feelings in the heat of the moment.

That’s not a joke or anything. Passion can be great and cathartic. It’s a shame then that it can so often be marred by internalized hatred, and I genuinely hope that changes for not just you, but all of us.

As someone who grew up with a debilitating learning disability, I definitely don’t have internalized hatred toward people who, honestly, I consider to be “my own kind” for lack of better words. I could go on but I think that’s about all I really need to say on the matter

    Acab.

I used to live in Baltimore and one of my neighbor’s was a cop, and the insane shit he would tell me would make you crap your pants. The shit he got away with, including pictures, would make you insane.

Even if cops were just a totally random selection of people from the general population, the fact that there is effectively little-to-no oversight, both in terms of law/institutions and in terms of social shame, means that anyone who isn’t a bastard before going in is extremely likely to become one, even absent all those other factors like cops becoming more insular and separated from the civilian population (“thin blue line”), the militarization of police (though no need for discipline, apparently), and sickened internal department policing cultures.

And cops are generally picked from a pool even less suitable than a totally random selection from the general population.

Power tends to corrupt, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
