This memo may not hold legal weight, but that won’t mean much when ICE black-bags you and sends you to a Salvadoran gulag from which there is no escape and no contact with legal services.
That would be the case if the executive branch still cared about what the judicial branch has to say or involved the whole legislative branch in the decision making process. However, they don’t and their bulldozer approach is met with very little resistance.
Or in short: Being right doesn’t help you a lot if you’re being right while already in their concentration camp in El Salvador.

knowing this, i’ve completely changed my point of view on firearms. yes, they do a lot of harm and definitely should be dealt with cautiously. and also it’s completely beyond any meaningful stance that facebook allows pictures of firearms, but not naked breasts.
but apart from that, the issue of firearms is more interesting than it seems at first glance, and i guess a re-evaluation is warranted.

A registery isn’t going to magically solve people shooting each other…and no I don’t believe there should be a registry…you know why? Because when fascist are charge like right now, do you think they’ll let minorities own or purchase weapons to protect themselves?
A registry and licensing is not and will never solve our gun violence issues, because we don’t have a gun problem, we have a societal problem.

No it is not just a mental health problem. And the reason it works in other countries is because they A) dont have anywhere near the amount of firearms we do in civ hands and b) because they have safety nets for their citizens.

Single payer healthcare, so people can get mental health without going broke and avoiding it. Or turning to suicide, which is 2/3rds of our firearm deaths.

End qualified immunity so the 1/40 gun deaths aren’t from police who just kill people and get away with it.
Increase our school funding 10 fold. Build more schools, so class sizes can be 10-15 kids max per teacher. Not 30-40+
Solidify abortion rights into law, why the hell it’s been left to the courts for so long is insane. More unwanted children doesn’t create mentally stable people.
Of course the NRA has been quiet. They always do this, because they’re not about to people. Do you remember when California passed stricter gun laws? Because black people were buying guns? That happened like 50 years ago. The NRA was silent then and they are silent now.
Of course it’s always good to point out the hypocrisy. But let’s also remember the historical context, that this is consistent with the organization’s values and it always has been and it always will be.

No knock warrants are stupidly dangerous for the victim and police. Personally if the SS are knocking my door down, and I can certainly say no one else is going to do this at any time, I’m comfortable with making my own terms. My life is going to hopefully cost more than equal loss. I’d rather fight till I die then die in a hole, they can torture and rape my corpse, I’ll be done with it before then.
Having firearms for protection is so they’re within reach and ready…if you lock up your fire extinguisher then it’s pretty fucking useless if you have a fire.

Idk but i don’t think fires are all that common, and we have plenty of other mechanisms to prevent fires from even happening.

i don’t think it’s likely that other nations will take out trump through a world war, as happened with hitler in WW2.
this is largely because i believe that other countries entered WW2 to stop hitler because they were getting attacked, or feared they were about to be attacked next. if trump doesn’t outright attack other countries, i see little reason for other countries to use military force to stop the US or trump.
