Ran into a bunch of pro russian posts and bots. Gave them so much hell they had to run to reddit admins so now I have a three day ban. Apparently saying “good luck with that 21% interest rate and linking to the song 'speed the collapse” is hate speech.
They gave me three days ban and I decided to delete my account. They can keep their free speech.
Certain Lemmy instances are not much different from the kindergartens over on Reddit. The same type of kids take over mod roles, forcing everyone to follow their ideology - or else, banned!
I would fully support the option on Lemmy to block or ban entire instances that suppress free expression or prevent challenging false claims and narratives. I would also fully support the possibility to complain about a mod and even demand his removal as moderator with the possibility of banning even the mod. So, not only top-down, but also bottom-up - but so think the letter is not possible in Lemmy. Only instances can be closed.
I’ve only been censored on blaja and hexbear, both of which I don’t frequent anymore. So YMMV.
Easily the two worst lol
I too recently got a 3 day suspension. I’m not going back.
13 year redditor. Founding member. Shit sucks now.
Ditto. It got worse as the user base grew, but going public really accelerated the decline. Lemmy feels a lot like it did back when reddit was fun.
13 years
founding member
Wdym by this
And I was a couple years late to the party
Sorry. 14 years, 5 months.
Did you mean a
charter member
for Reddit gold? You’re about 4 years late to be a “founding member” if you mean one of the original members 🤷
I would recommend yall never ever return. I miss some old communities but even when you return you find they are all gone anyway. Some came here, others discord et ad nauseum. The light is gone there, its facebook, a desert. Come here and help us short rddt.
I stop in when I’m on a computer to check three subreddits that are directly related to my trade, and a fourth that is for my local community. The rest is pretty shit TBH. Even my hobbies are better represented on discord these days
So many engagement bots. I was constantly getting pinged with automated idiocy.
I was there in the beginning. Shit sucks now.
I miss when Reddit was in competition with Digg.
Digg is coming back actually. Kevin Rose and Alexis Ohania bought the domain. Strange times…
I got permanently banned for calling Musk a cunt, and for advocating punching Nazis.
Good riddance.
Same here but mine was like “someone might luigi Elon someday” permanent ban account since 2005
I gave it up after they banned RIF. I also gave up Twitter. But im really good at dunking on russian propaganda accounts and occasionally troll.
Removed by mod
That’s pretty short sighted. Your quality goes to shit.
I remember seeing a ton of Russian propagandists on Reddit during the first trump election. Many of them hung out in “the Donald” making memes. Later years, it seemed like reddit was cleaning up it’s act, but now it’s doomed to the worst the Internet has to offer.
Btw, welcome to Lemmy
I’m shadow banned for talking about how the general public feels about Luigi
I got a 3 day ban for the exact same thing. Then got a permanent ban for subverting the 3 day ban on another account … which I didnt.
3 day ban, rookie levels, come back when you got an IP ban. Cant even make a new account.
Did you get banned from 4chan too?
Never used it
Lol just go restart your modem/router. Unless you’re paying for a static IP there is a decent chance it will change.
Only by pc, they check your mobile phone hardware address so i can never use the app on my phone. I already got dynamic ip and yes, as long as i dont connect the app to my phone im fine, but who uses pc for reddit (typing this while taking a shit)
3rd party app anyone?
Didnt reddit put a stop to those a while back?
they limited api keys, but you can use revanced to put your own api key and it works anyways
3 day special moderation operation
First time?
reddit? reddit’s dead
Lemmy is getting there, got banned from a leftist community for disagreeing on a point and showing dissent. Aside from that, the abusive, name calling comments in response to the most inoffensive disagreement of your views is getting out of hand here. People don’t know how to have a discussion without name calling and hate
Which Sub was it?
I was permanetley banned and politely told to fuck off in 2024 from the site entirely, when people were talking about a possible Trump win, and they talked about how he might actually start helping Russia.
I responded “if the American government starts giving direct support to an enemy at war that is against the very values that the people support, they’ll end up with a dead president” It was flagged as “threats of violence” and when I argued, it was made a permanent ban
Ukrainerussiareport
that one is infested with Z, pretending to be “neutral”.
that one will slap you with a tag you cant remove if you sway one way or the other, but its only the Pro-Ukraine people who get ridiculed and attack.
“good luck with that 21% interest rate and linking to the song ‘speed the collapse”
You talking about Russia or the US?
Naw. US federal interest rates are 4.5% right now. Much, much, much lower than Russia’s 21% national rate. Their economy has been running super hot due to enormous war spending and large wage increases caused by increasing labor shortages.
Servicing 21% loans has made industrial expansion in Russia long-term nonviable. Their whole economy is setup to get them through a few years and hope it doesn’t all crash before their war ends.
Just wait a while. When they get the Big Beautiful Bill through and its effects kick in full force the bottom will drop out. Federal debt will skyrocket and servicing it will become exorbitantly more expensive. It is already getting expensive with all the credit agencies downgrading the US. They will have to print more money to survive. Interest rates will skyrocket.
Russia is in trouble. 15% of all business has declared bankruptcy.
Great news!
The point I was making is the US is very much on a similar course with all the policies being enacted lately.
Reddit fucking sucks.
The content feels generated, comments feel generated and there’s almost no engagement compared to Lemmy.
You mislabel Ubuntu as a rolling release distro and you’ll get 20 replies on Lemmy telling you that you’re wrong. Reddit is like the house from Home Alone when Kevin was dancing with cardboard people.
Eventually it’ll all just be bots talking to bots posting “my husband is cheating with my stepsister aita” content
Just as long as those sweet sweet ad dollars keep rolling in; I don’t think the people in charge of Reddit give a single fuck.
