The original ending for Doctor Who's just-finished second season — which now concludes with Ncuti Gatwa's departure and the sudden arrival of Billie Piper — has seemingly been confirmed by the TikTok account of an actor who appeared in the finale.

Personally, I’m glad things didn’t turn out this way, even if i DO want more resolution with the Susan storyline. I’ll consider this for the best and a happy accident.

    I wonder what their main motivation is. If it’s an effort to shield Gatwa from “fan” harassment, it’s commendable. But ultimately probably pointless.

      Shielding Gatwa is certainly a factor. But I think they are mainly saying this to cover for an earlier lie: That Disney not renewing after Season 1 had aired wasn’t a reason to get worried. Admitting that Gatwa quit would mean admitting that your star was worried and the BBC doesn’t want to do that.
