    What is the point of chili without meat? It would just be a bowl of beans and spices (or just a bowl of spices since beans really don’t belong in chili).

      I know I’m a year late, but this is important to address: Chili is a bean dish. Meat is optional, beans are not.

          If chili is a meat dish, why would there be a variant called “chili con carne”? If you don’t speak Spanish, that means “chili with meat”.

            I like how you couldn’t even be bothered to read the very first sentence in the Wikipedia article. If you did, then you’d understand just how wrong you are.

            Drop your ego and just let it go, man. I really don’t care that much (everybody makes mistakes), so neither should you.
