In a “broken clock is right twice a day” type of thing, all the conspiracy theorists talking about how Jews secretly run the world have a bit of a point, although it’s specifically the Israeli govt/military and not Judaism as a whole. I think Jewish people were effectively invited into that position across much of Europe, back when the Catholic church forbade usury but the people still wanted banks.
Unfortunately for many Jewish people , some of their number became a major driving force for capitalism.
