Joan Westerberg has been doing great work on the Fediverse. I pasted this link in the one sub I miss r/idiocracy:

https://www.joanwestenberg.com/big-tech-wants-you-trapped-the-open-web-sets-you-free-2/

My post was really good — I used Idiocracy speech to get my scros to join me in LEMMY and not only was the post rejected but I earned a temporary ban at Reddit.

At this point there isn’t even a point in going back to leave a breadcrumb trail to be followed.

I appreciate the fediverse, but I still have a couple of issues with it. There IS censorship in the fediverse, there is still cancelling of people. There are still restrictions on freedom of speech. A lot of the garbage that reddit had carried over here. A lot of the cult mentality carried over here, too. Some mods have the same power trip mods on reddit have. Good thing there are many other servers you can join, and you don’t get permanently banned for “ban evasion”. I’ve left every single other proprietary platform and joined an alternative on the fediverse, except YouTube. Working on that.

I found the perfect way to not get banned from Reddit: simply don’t go there.

the only way I end up there lately is through search results. even then half the time what im looking for got blanked out or deleted by someone leaving reddit.

Genuinely such mixed feelings about all the deleted old posts. I swear it’s well over half of the time I search up some kind of tech issue and all the relevant posts are gone. But the replies saying “thanks this fixed it so fast!” are always still there lmao.

Like I’m glad there’s less and less of a reason to go to Reddit. Fuck that site. But also… goddamn!

Archive should probably work, but I always seem to forget about it lol.

I only access Reddit through libreddit instances and they usually have links to various undelete services in place of the deleted comment, but they never seem to work :(

I think they’re going the Twitter-> X route. Make it so unusable for the people who would give any pushback, that all that’s left are the people who are going to cause real harm and the others that are too addicted and/or stupid to leave.

Just delete your account and uninstall reddit. Best decision I made. I left 7 years and around 300,000 karma. Now I just use reddit via Google searching for instructions or IT tips.

Yup, been on Reddit for 14 years and have never been banned. I had 2 bans just last week. I’m done with reddit. That site is a huge piece of shit now.

I also got an extremely soft ban on one account after just talking about Lemmy and piefed.

    Lol.

I always just immediately created a new account as soon as I was banned, even if it was just temporary. Reddit accounts are meaningless now.

Then I got tired of doing that and came to Lemmy. Problem solved.
