  • Imo they should have kept the ipv4 format but instead of maxing out at 255.255.255.255 make it 65535.65535.65535.65535 this aproach makes the address pool more than 4000000000 times larger and is backward compatible with ipv4 so it could be a drop in replacement for most things. And if we ever do end up running out of over quintilion (18446744073709551616) ips we can just keep going up, to 4294967295.4294967295.4294967295.4294967295.

  • All the shortening rules trip me up. I’d much rather work with addresses with standardized number of hextets and ideally the same number of digits than not have to type a few zeros.

    all of these are the same address: 2041:0000:0001:0000:0000:0000:875B:131B 2041:0000:0001::875B:131B 2041:0:0001::875B:131B 2041:0000:1:0000:0000:0000:875B:131B 2041::0001:0000:0000:0000:875B:131B 2041::1:0000:0000:0000:875B:131B 2041::0001:0:0:0:875B:131B 2041:0:1::875B:131B 2041:0:1:0:0:0:875B:131B 2041:0000:1:0000:0000:0000:875B:131B 2041:0000:01:000:00:0:875B:131B 2041:00:1::0:875B:131B

  • Monero is an amazing project with an actual use case, why associate it with a scam or a useless trash at best. The possibility of tarnishing XMR’s and community’s reputation far outweigh any benefit it may bring. We don’t need another shitcoin to develop a frontend for EVM atomic swaps, if you are serious about it and need funding make a CCS proposal. We also don’t need moonbois taking interest in XMR just to turn it into another vehicle to grow their fiat bags, destabilizing our price in the process. Price stability is essential to monero’s success as as digital cash. Small price osculation, steady growth, no growth (or even steady decline as long as it’s predictable, just look at fiat) is preferable to violent price movements which force everyone who wants to use monero as money to become a speculator as well.

  • Yeah being homeless sucks, what does that have to do with cats reproducing?

    Even if we assume that all unplanned kittens end up homeless, it’s still some twisted version of financial cat eugenics. “Your life will probably not adhere to my standards of what a good life is, so I will prevent you from existing in the first place for your own good. I will cut off your balls because your kids would be homeless.”

    Now apply the same logic to humans. I know we are talking about cats but from a moral standpoint it should make no difference, the degree of “bad” might change, it’s less bad if you do that to an animal and more bad if you do that to a human, but in both cases it’s still bad. I can’t think of anything that this logic doesn’t apply to, even when it comes to something we do all the time like killing, if you do that to a human, that’s murder, which is obviously terrible and if yo do that to an animal, that’s acceptable, because we need it for food to survive but it’s still bad. If we could get meat any other way I don’t think anyone would be opposed to that.

    If you don’t want to get castrated by aliens\AI overlords then don’t do that to your pets.
