  • I guess I wanna clarify that it’s bad in my opinion, not objectively. I’ll return to this later. I just don’t wanna seem like I’m shitting on your car or the reasons you got it.

    Cars are typically comfortable when they have good ride quality and interior. The Model 3 has the absolute worst in both regards of any EV I’ve tried. The suspension is legendarily poor and is my primary complaint— it truly feels like punishment. As if every road imperfection was multiplied, not dampened. They could’ve given it the interior of an S class and I’d still find it uncomfortable. Yet the interior is sterile and features low quality materials. I tried my best to recall any one comfort besides heated seats, but I truly believe it is bereft of them.

    So, back to how this is my personal opinion. I am a traditional comfort guy: good ride quality, creature comforts, high quality materials. For those who don’t care about that, the Model 3 is a great “get me there” vehicle. The software is good and it has ample driving assistance. The supercharger network is unrivaled if you don’t mind funding Musk (I do, so even though mine can now access the network I won’t use it). It’s very functional. Just not physically comfortable.

    I’ll admit that most of the EVs I’ve tried are Model S competitors, not 3, but I’d still take either Ioniqs or the Mach-E over the 3. Also the latest Model 3 improved the suspension, but I’ve yet to try it



  • I got my original ones from this unethical company that put them in tiny sealed enclosures. Well, from a gift shop that was selling them. When I realized how unethical it was later that day, I made a quick plan to break them out.

    I’d recommend getting them from good breeders. There’s an eBay seller GotSnails who was, when I left reddit, a large contributor. Messaging him on Reddit was cheaper than the eBay store back then since he’ll just send an invoice. There’s also the supershrimp store.

    They do breed in tank conditions! My original ones bred after the breakout. It can take a lot of time and some work making sure your conditions are good, but mine didn’t require anything.

    All I did was get:

    • a tank (well, a jar)
    • some algae from supershrimp store. They don’t eat this algae but they eat what grows on it.
    • some calcium carbonate pebbles which they need to molt successfully
    • substrate for visual variety
    • some rocks for them to hide in
    • a test kit. Most don’t do this and it’s alright. I was just paranoid. It ended up being totally unnecessary in my case.

    They’re a lot of fun and I highly recommend it. Feel free to respond if you have more questions or want specific links to what I’d do if I was starting afresh. You can choose from any ethical seller though.


  • Oh, I have shrimp. Mine are near zero care opae ula; I top off the tank with distilled water occasionally but that’s it. Well, and I have them on a light cycle so the algae grows.

    Still, if anyone is interested or feels like shrimp would improve their lives, feel free to respond and I can help set up a new tank. Mine are truly near zero maintenance though so I don’t know if it would be a profound life change like OP’s.








  • This is such a weird thing to do because from here, if you really do keep complaining, OP’s just gonna ignore it. Blocking OP would take significantly less effort while being far more effective. About a year ago there was a pretty large push for fewer communities and more posts, so I’m not surprised they posted here.

    The other thing is, who dictates what belongs here if not the people upvoting it? You haven’t deleted this post so I assume it’s not you. You could certainly lobby for a mod position and use that power to impose your will over the community members’, or convince a mod to do so, though.


  • I am a bit surprised to hear that’s how you feel about those things. I’m not completely neurotypical but I present that way, and I’m missing a lot of knowledge about most divergences. If you don’t mind my prying in turn: do you mean you feel shame when you score higher on an exam than someone else?

    Anyway yes, the other commenter nailed the primal urge to assert some form of dominance. Whether through instinct to better one’s tribal standing or society raising people to constantly beat other people in something, I think a lot of people feel some reflex to shit on 4chan’s OP even though he was just being honest and vulnerable. There should be little to no tribal advantage in a “higher standing” person acting that way. Nonetheless we still see children distancing themselves from bullied peers, or joining in on it to prove they’re part of the winning side so to speak. I strongly believe it’s due to base instincts from a time where being near the bottom was a large threat to one’s ability to reproduce.

    I said to the other guy that his negativity would benefit no one. In a progressive society where a person thinks about human progress instead of temporary satisfaction from “beating” someone else, this is completely true. The forward-thinking know that 4chan’s OP (and other downtrodden) can help move humanity forward, and Lemmy’s culture is progressive enough to not reward the primal desire. Without the approval of other self-minded individuals, he actually lost social standing, leading to a rare situation where truly no positives existed.

    Mostly unrelated and unwanted speculation, but when you say your life is so consistently in the shitter, I wonder if believing so is part of the neurodivergence since you’re definitely doing better than people who are proud. Being neurotypical isn’t objectively right— it’s just most common, and thus typical. I don’t know your life and I won’t make assumptions, but I wonder if you lack the self-minded instinct and thus don’t feel the need to be prideful. Taken to an extreme that could lead to a hurtful opinion of oneself. It’s just, I know you have value and I bet I’d find stuff to be proud of in your shoes.

    I googled girlfriend asmr and honestly it’s pretty cringe, the primal part of me really does wanna bully this dude. But I set that part aside because I try not to be an asshole for no reason, as it does not benefit anyone including myself. Even if we reflexively think these thoughts due to society and upbringing, we don’t have to give into them, much less spend real time introducing more negativity into the world by voicing them.

    I grew up in Texas with very traditional masculine bs. Some part of me would read what I just said and think “what a pussy”. But I promise you I’m much happier now that I’ve learned to set the negativity aside, and I like to think I make fewer people feel bad regularly. There is no downside to this because, well, there’s no real benefit to shitting on people who aren’t hurting anybody.







  • Yep. I’m a little too deep into sushi and it’s pretty funny that people will gatekeep ingredients.

    The ingredients that Edomae chefs now use are extremely traditional. Essentially every single one was for food safety, not taste. Vinegar, wasabi, and sake in nikiri are all meant to prevent food-borne illness. The red rice vinegar used at high end restaurants was originally used because it was cheap. Fish is obviously readily available. Edomae chefs now use them because they prefer the taste— which I’ll agree with, I make it the same way— not because it’s sacrilege not to. Every one of the top chefs can tell you the history of sushi as a stall food meant to be accessible.

    Even crotchety Jiro, who might chastise you for using soy sauce, deviates from tradition by using exclusively white vinegar and adding sugar. Yet the same gatekeepers love that guy (until you reach the super gatekeepers who are too cool for him because he got famous).

    Sushi superiority is truly insane to me. I wonder if some assholes back then looked down on the “peasants” for trying to extend the shelf life of their food.

    Sorry this comment is so long, I’m way too deep into this. It’s funny, two chefs I know are top five in Japan (thus, some would say, the world), respected beyond belief, and on my first visits they stayed well after close to talk to the dumb foreigner who wanted to improve his at home sushi. One doesn’t speak English and has one of his apprentices translate between us. I guess when you get far enough into sushi, you feel the need to ramble about it.
