Guess I’m not the only person in this building getting high for Easter, noice!
WTF is going on with this kitchen?
I have so many questions.
One qualm I have is the amount of houses I’ve seen with 3+ bedrooms and only one bathroom.
Three bedrooms one bathroom is what I am looking at. It’s just for me so I don’t need or want another bathroom. But if you go down to two bedrooms you rarely get a full kitchen which I want (and modern places often have pretty tiny kitchens too).
I have found quite a few in the area I’m looking at have seperate rooms for bath, shower and toilet so more people can be using things at the same time. I don’t think more than one bathroom became common until the mid to late 80s.
this used to be normal in the 60s and 70s
This is a kitchen for ubereats and takeaway. God forbid that the kitchen should intrude on the really important rooms. It’s been tucked into the leftover space on the floor plan. The door next to the stove - is that to a cupboard or an exit? Because if it’s an exit then this is a passage with a stove in it. The drawers MIGHT be on swivels so they open sideways, but I doubt it. If this were mine, I’d take an axe to the peninsula thingie and replace it with a moveable island. Then it’s more workable if not exactly good.
I once had a kitchenette (?) that only had a few square feet of floor space and not enough room for a fridge… it was still more usable than this. It’s terrible planning.
They absolutely should have used an island or even just left the peninsula out. There’s even an area at the side where a small table or sideboard could have been used for extra bench space instead.
I think that space is where the fridge is supposed to go. Judging by the placing of the power point at eye level to the left of the shelving. And that’s a crappy place to put the fridge too as opening the door is going to impact on the peninsula. I only hope that the view provided has been snapped with a fish eye lens and the angles are not quite as bad as they look.
screams in trying to open drawers also does the dishwasher door open to where the pantry door also opens? I can’t tell what that door is. It’s the “I don’t care because I’m not going to live here” kitchen.
OMG. If that’s a walk in pantry you could purposely trap someone in there by opening the dishwasher. 😂

Terrible. Who the fuck designed that?
They should have just gone with a portable kitchen island on wheels, so it could be moved into that empty side area when not in use. Or just used there.
Maybe a kitchen island would stick out into the walkway a little when pushed to the side but that weird angled monstrosity there impedes access to part of the kitchen and would constantly take a chunk out of your hip.
Even omitting that extra bench space would be preferable.
The weird corner with the draws and the peninsula, why? Can you even open those draws fully?
Maybe the top one… probably not the rest.
But you’d have to stand at a weird angle and lean or twist to use any of them. Stress position = injury waiting to happen
Those drawers will be a tight squeeze.
I’m just back from the beach at night
lights pretty, moon rise pretty
I have approval for the rental place I’m less fond of. Haven’t heard anything from the one that looks 100%. And I still haven’t seen either of them in person.
The one I really like is currently vacant, so I’m presuming if they were liking my application they’d be moving fairly quickly on it, so not hearing anything is not a good sign. The inspection for the other one is booked on Thursday, so there is still some time for divine intervention.
But at the moment it’s looking like it will be mostly about just how deceptive the 7 year old photos are in relation to the current condition of the property, and what’s in the mysterious corner that none of the photos show. The other place I can piece together all the photos and the plan to get a great overview, this one has a few missing sections that my brain is imagining terrible possibilities for. Especially in regards to the door through the laundry, which in this place would be the most used entrance. If it’s a dodgy set of steps or something it’s going to be a hard no. I suspect it’s just not in the photos because it is utilitarian but not pretty, so that will probably be ok. But I need to work out how I’m going to manage Mr Woof’s access, which can be tricky with no sliding door to put an insert in.
Not the shit kitchen place is it?
your options are open until you sign on the dotted line
it’s better to wait if you can than take something you are unhappy with

Party is over and I bought way too much food and soft drink, but it won’t go to waste around here I guess. Miniest’s friends are all funny and nice little girls with nice mums, but I didn’t get a chance to talk to them much.
Garden ramble: Aphocalypse
I’d been letting the garden coast while unwell and was aware of a bad infestation of aphids on the worst affected plant… left it because I had bigger fish to fry. Came out today and all the potted jack be littles were absolutely covered.
Spent ages scrubbing and wiping the leaves down with soapy water. The point for delicacy had passed so instead of spraying the soapy water I was scrubbing the leaves on both sides like dirty dishes and rinsing them like a salad. The dousing with moisture will absolutely encourage the mildew and the dish soap may harm the plants but I just had to get the pest burden down quickly. I also fed them to help replace what the pests took.
Some leaves were already dying - those got snapped off and immersed to drown the load of aphids on them (so they couldn’t just go and climb back on - or rather be carried back on by the ants farming them).
I’ll have to either plant a different variety next time or seriously plan out the disease and pest control. Organic and heirlooms seem to need a bit of attention. I saw one ladybug but honestly the rummaging and soapy water might deter it.
I don’t see a great outcome for these plants if I can’t keep this in check. At this point the aim is to keep them kicking just until the most mature fruits ripen.
The ones in ground and the golden nuggets are also affected but not as badly.
I left them as I needed to get back in to attend to Melbcat and the magpie water had just run dry.

I fucking love this film.
I hadn’t seen the others before this one.
So many dudes hated it because Max wasn’t the main character. Charlize Theron absolutely killed it in this movie.
It’s on my watch list!
It’s really, really good. Absolutely insane set pieces!
Did a solid day of uni stuff. Made essential progress on the easiest stuff.
Next up is time to be data wizard, start generating plots, and when that all feels like too much I shall start with the easiest bit of writing: the method…
But that’s for next time. No supervisor meet next week, top priority is to clear my work pile before I fly off. Gonna just take all my days away as carers leave I think.
Happy Easter 🍺
We found a new home for the weekend
forgot to post how good the potato wedges were! the cheese sauce wasnt my best, but the bolognese sauce was amazing with them as was the simple sweet chili and sour cream. Gonna get back into the “snacks for dinner” to save a bit of cash and cause the kid loves 'em!
Loaded baked potatoes would be even cheaper. Get the washed kind (preferably floury) and microwave them skin on to cook. Then smash open, load them up, and bake to get everything hot and crispy/melted
Anybody have the “board game stash cupboard” ? I counted around 30 board games and card games and half dozen puzzles. I think my favourites are Settlers of Catan and Risk, but the one game that everyone comes back to is UNO for some reason.
I think it’s more fun in a large group gathering that’s more casual.
Yeeeess. Just the classics - chess, backgammon, cribbage, mahjong and ordinary cards. Oh, and Squatter (inherited from siblings - dates back to the 1970s). Zillions of jigsaws as I like doing these and have good lighting over the jigsaw table so can be done after dark.
We’ve got lots of games like various Uno ones, Throw Throw Avocado, Throw Throw Burrito, Exploding Kittens, What Do You Meme, the hit each other with fake swords one and stuff like that. I like good old fashioned monopoly but nobody else is interested. There’s a heap I haven’t looked at in ages, I probably should.
Totally! And I have an accidental duplicate set of Exploding Kittens to gift some day.
yup, we have a board game and puzzle cupboard
UNO is a classic. Never gets boring. Cards against humanity gets pulled out a fair bit at friend game gatherings as well.
We have cards against but it loses its lustre when you get used to the card combinations so the replay value goes right down.
For our UNO games, cheating is kind of encouraged, so some of the fun is trying to catch someone out.
This is why you add Crabs Adjust Humidity to the deck
That’s new to me thanks I’ll check it out.
The new UNO game has draw 10 and other weird cards in it. Great for big gatherings.
We have a lot of quiz games and classics.
I haven’t heard of this one. Will have to check it out.
It’s called UNO No Mercy. It’s ridiculous.
UNO Flip is one of my favourite card games, it’s so chaotic. Got any games good for 2 players that you can reccommend?
Gin Rummy! There’s so many versions of it.
Actually UNO is kind of unbeatable, like nothing I have played compares to it really.
4 DAY WEEKEND LET’S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
🎉🍺
Idk why I slept in until 1pm, I was asleep around 11pm last night lol!
But then I had my psych appt at 2pm, so I’m a tad drained.
But all is well!
hugs 🙂
